Identity Crisis

so why are you referring to blacks acting like minstrels? Maybe that speaks more to what is inside your head. I was not trying to be disparaging. But there is an obvious difference and that is all that I am saying. But you are right, I am speaking for me and not the poster.

“Maybe that speaks more what is inside your head”...Yea, you would think that. My inference on the matter came from you as if there should be a difference between State of the Union Obama and “Black” church Obama. Let me guess, you’re the victim now are you?

hardly... and an inference starts from what is already in your head. so thanks for confirming.

Not sure I understand. What do "black kids" act like?

Nooo Mr. Jack Me Hoff, inferred statements stem from loaded “dog whistle” and coded statements people make when they’re trying to hide what they’re really trying to say in a sneaky and deceptive manner. The simple fact you keep harping on “what was already in my head” proves this because your projecting what your original intent was by the original statement in question since you want to get all pseudo psychological, sir. So thank YOU for proving my point.

well, the implication that Obama had to act like a minstrel came from you. I just said there is an obvious difference in styles when Obama spoke to a black audience vs. a general audience. This is not just my personal opinion. But I am done with the back and forth so will just leave you this:

I will take a stab at this one. There is the President Obama in a State Of The Union address and then the Obama campaigning in front of a black church. I think it's more of a cultural thing and not necessarily derogatory. You could say the same about "country folk" in choice of words, mannerisms, compared to the larger population of people. I think that is what it means.

HS kids in Miami were dancing and talking sht when they scored, then going to college and being told to tone it down. Incidentally, the majority of those kids were black. That's the way they acted and they were black. Other kids were all polite about having scored, and most of those kids happened to be white. That's the way they acted and they were white. So if one wanted to generalize, and I understand that generalizing is frowned upon, one might say that black kids tended to act a certain way and white kids tended to act a certain, different, way.

Howard told them to come to Miami and act the way they wanted. The rest of college football, which at the time was largely run by white coaches and fans didn't like it so they started to call the kids names. Not n***ers, because even then that was frowned upon, rather they called them "thugs" and "hoodlums" and "criminals" and, dare I say, "bad boys". Catholics vs. Convicts anyone? You want to tell me that wasn't about race and culture?

not really speaking to the criminal activity, if there was any (I am sure there was in some cases) but that has nothing to do with what I was saying. The dancing, jawing, celebrations, etc. all reflected the sub- culture these kids were coming from. I did not see anything wrong with that stuff. It was entertaining to me. But it was hard to stomach for some of the purists. Probably more because we were winning while doing it. If we weren't winning it would have just been considered annoying, but would not have had the same kind of impact in my opinion. But I got what you meant by "acting black" and did not automaticaly associate anything derogatory in it.

I appreciate that, seems some others didn't get it. And I didn't intend to lecture you, just expanding on what you wrote for the benefit of those that don't seem to remember this stuff.

You do realize...that doesn’t clean it up. At all actually. So going by what YOUR saying is President Obama acted dignified and “presidential” in front of good common folk in proper setting but switched on the minstrel show as soon as he got into a black church? Hmm...I’m not not even about to get on your head, I want the actual poster to answer...

The answer is you're a dumb sht if you don't think people act differently depending on who they're speaking to. You think white politicians talk to their friends the way they talk in front of congress? Would you talk to your boss the way you talk to your friends? Get all the way out of here with that.

Its not even worth it, man. Some people are still stuck in the 60's. The fact is, is that black culture is THE most popular culture in America right now and some people hate that. Let them be ignorant.

Black culture? You're not implying that black people do anything differently than other people are you? Because that would be horribly racist, and I'd be offended.

If anybody really wants to see what the world of college football and steroids/HGH are all about, they should read the book “Under the Tarnished Dome”. It details the arrival of Lou Holts & the strength and training coach from Nebraska. It’s written by a true Notre Dame insider about 20 years ago and not much has changed, just become harder to detect.

Bama is Saban, unlimited coaches, Mark emmert, $$$$$ bags, steroids, Sec home office in Birmingham(hint hint-refs), lawyers and bankers, powerful foundation(top tier), etc. Football version of perfectstorm .

The way someone acts is micro when it comes to culture, dude. It's 2019, racism isn't in style anymore.
