I wouldn't freak over the sacks and turnovers. They'll come.

We're gonna be playing teams who will actually push the ball downfield and try to win games. Stanford split the field in half and basically conceded a very limited offense. FAMU decided the ball comes out in 2 seconds no matter what. The most they could hope for were 10 yard passes. To me that's a game plan that says let's not try to lose by too much. That won't be the norm.
 
I’m not worried about the sacks, both teams where getting the ball out fast but the one concern I have is tackling it was very sloppy tonight.

I said the same thing. These 1st two teams played it safe & was jus trying not to get 100 put on them

Being subjected to watching Kentucky football with my family for decades, this is 100% what our 2 opponents did. They knew if they “played to win,” they would lose by 60. So Mark Stoops (and other clown shoes UK coaches before him) shortened games as much as he could so they would “only” lose by 40. Handoff after handoff, short quick throws, punt it deep, play soft coverage so they have to dink and dunk so they have to score on long drives. Most teams we play are going to do this because they know if they turn the ball over, especially in their own territory, they have no chance. Notre Dame is gonna play not to lose against us too. Just watch. They don’t have the horses to score enough points to keep up either. They’re gonna stick to that boring, conservative offense they ran against Wisconsin for most of the game because they know that’s really all they can do.

We may not play a team until the playoff who dares to take 7-step dropbacks and throw it 40+ times. That’s when the sacks and turnovers will happen. This defense is a lot better than people think, and I’ll only get better when our 2 starting corners heal up.

I like What I’ve seen from Pickett in the snaps he’s played off the edge actually. Back up dl actually looked great especially the interior with Carter

It’s against FAMU. I’m not taking anything from this game, if they would have looked great against Stanford that’s a different story. Also I’m specifically talking about the DEs. After Blount, Wilson, and Lightfoot, there’s Pickett and Scroggins. You got Scroggins, who they are fattening up and trying to turn him into the next Bain or Mesi, he’s not that type of DE, and Pickett who can’t get significant snaps against Stanford. That worries me.
 
I haven’t looked at pressures, but sacks last year didn’t start piling up until the second half of the season when teams were trying to push the ball downfield on us. Looking at the numbers real quick we only had like 11 or 12 through the first 7 games of the season. Second half of the year they started getting home.
