I admit I didn't follow the team really closely this year until the end of the regular season. So, these are the thoughts of a casual:
-The team seems very well-coached. Obviously, they play defense hard and rebound their asses off. On offense, they are patient and disciplined. No shenanigans, but the patience is almost to a fault.
-We need more shooters. We just don't have enough guys who can put the biscuit in the basket, especially from the perimeter. Tru Washington was very hesitant; he passed up a few open 3-pointers. I don't know whether that was the gameplan or he was gun-shy.
-Shelton Henderson is amazing. Pay him whatever it takes to get him back.
-I was not impressed by Reneau. But the way he cried at the press conference made me like him because he clearly cares a ton.

Our program does not travel. Purdue had a ton of fans there, and they were loud. The Miami section was basically friends and family and a handful (probably <100) randos like me. I love that our team can thrive against a hostile crowd, but it's embarrassing how little support we gave. Toward the end of the game, some Iowa State fans came and sat near us in order to get ready for the following game. There were empty seats all around my girlfriend and me. By midway through the second half, there were fewer Miami fans there than Iowa State or Kentucky fans. Anyway, the Iowa State lady had a sign that she got at the Pop Tarts Bowl. She told me that UM was poorly represented there. I was shocked that we didn't even travel to Orlando to support the football team.

I'm going to become active in the local alumni group. It's time for me to do more than ***** around on CIS and make little donations. Time to put my time where my mouth is.

Doesn’t help that we were sent to St Louis against teams that were short car rides away, but yeah, our basketball fanbase is tiny and lousy.

Reneau had an off game. He carried this team for much of the season Henderson is a gem but he had an outlier game, best since early season. Could be special next year; he’d be crazy not to come back.

Lucas put the team back together. The pieces are in place to be good next year with the way he works the portal. We’ll be back in the tournament next March and I’m expecting at a higher seed than 7.

Of course, who wanted to ***** with TSA? We were playing with house money. Columbia is 2 hours away and Lafayette is 4 hours away by car. It would have taken a half a day to get to St Louis.

We had 5k in College Station, 26k in Dallas and 23k in Phoenix.

At the Final Four we represented well. We had twice the students that UConn had for example.

Totally agree on Reneau. He missed several close shots that he's made all season. Seems there was one stretch early in the game where it felt like he missed 4-5 point blank almost layups.

Yea he was off, and he was off the whole 1st half vs Mizzou. It happens. That said there were a few plays where he gets the foul call in the regular season. Zebras seemed to swalllow the whistle more than a few times.

Why did she have a sign from the Pop Tarts Bowl? Was she deeply proud of that accomplishment?

Our basketball fanbase is tiny, but hardly lousy. The issue is and has always been that our football fanbase actively hates our basketball program. I remember how many football fans crapped on our basketball program once it started showing signs of life under L. Name another school in this country where the majority of football fans cheer for another school's basketball program, you can't. The Miami Football/Duke(or UNC)basketball fan is a huge part of the problem.

The one thing I'll say about the basketball fanbase, it's mostly alumni, hence why it's small. You're a lot more likely to find alumni passionate about hoops because most of us went to games as students and the passion never left. I'm one of those people. I remember walking from Pearson to watch the 'Canes play, hoping that one day, the program would be decent. Not good, merely decent. I thought the L years wouldn't be topped, I truly believe that Coach Lucas may be able to match if not exceed L's run, provided he stays and continues on this trajectory. He's been impressive and I believe that the basketball donors are solidly behind him and will provide much needed support.

Miami will be bringing in more shooters in offseason I heard. I think Lucas did a great job with this team given everything. I expect him to bring in some more acquisitions to help us move in a positive direction. We must bring Henderson back no matter what it takes.
