Merritt left. We have an opening. Bring him home. Enough said.

In reference to this?
According to this article, he left Delaware State for FAMU opening which never materialize.

Portis was actually a good RB caoch over there, I'd bring him in. That would be crazy with his son on the team, but Prime was the head coach while his son played QB

Would he be able to recruit?
Always the consideration for RB coach.
That’s where I’m at.. RB and TE coach I feel need to be your best two recruiters. With best teachers/coaches at oline and WR just because technique is so huge for those positions.

Portis always seems like a great dude… and Jason Taylor has been a very good recruiter who is able to sell not only his own pedigree but his resume of development

I love all the canes who played for us, but it doesn’t mean they’re the best candidate for a job. CP has minimal experience coaching and recruiting, and there are literally dozens upon dozens of way more highly qualified candidates out there.

When you run a top notch organization, you hire the best people for a job, you don’t hire people for sentimental reasons. That’s a recipe for disaster. GABOS.

Oh look, another dumbass thread. Clinton Portis has ONE, I repeat ONE year of experience as a RB coach at the collegiate level and it's his ONLY relevant coaching experience. I know our dumbass fanbase will hire any former letterwinner, experience and actual ability be damned, but come the F on. This is exhausting as all ****. This program has just come off of two decades of mediocrity and here we go with "Miami Guy Bro" nonsense. SYBAU.

Why do y'all think this? 95% of these kids wouldn't even be able to recognize him if they were standing right next to him. They don't care about a name. What is important would be who has he coached and developed already. Has he got anyone drafted?
Jason Taylor recruited off his name until he developed guys. They absolutely care about a name. What do they always mention about Taylor? Him playing in the league and being a hall of famer. They want to go to the nfl so that holds weight

Taylor also had more than 9 months of relevant experience. Taylor has shown himself to be a grinder, someone who is passionate about development and the process. Clinton Portis has never been that kind of guy, EVER.

Ehh I mean... you're not all the way wrong lol

Taylor has his name, but by all accounts he's a really good guy that people respect. That matters too. If Sapp was here recruiting his name wouldn't mean **** because he's an a-hole.
