Every single celebrity that dies results in a “story time” where he regales some tale about how they met randomly years ago.

The stories all follow the same pattern:
Chef meets the celebrity in a situation where he’s by himself (usually a bar or restaurant), they strike up a conversation, he makes them laugh about something clever that he says, they part, they run into each other again 20 years later and miraculously said celebrity remembers their earlier interaction, and references the clever thing he said. And they’re all written in a bizarre noir style like he’s in Casablanca.

Throw in one of the worst cases of TDS ever (who he claims to have beaten in court 5 times), and you have a daily story that defies all logic.

Apparently there’s no shelf life on delusional behavior.
Some of us caught on to his Schtick in a couple months and laughed as the weak minded slurped it up. That was 25+-years ago. 😂

I wrote for the site and was pretty close to the program in the years prior. D$ had connections even back then. D$'s now wife and my gf at the time are best friends. Even though we had our own places, we basically lived out of or were consistently watching sports out the same apartment for a year. We had already discussed doing our own thing. When the Lounge thing happened, I'd call it an opportunity or opening.

D$ made the move and commitment. I came up with the name. At the time, I was just beginning to get into tech startups, so I actually thought this could be a scalable concept about fans sharing pics and experiences and rating the pics for "points." Hence, CANES - IN - SIGHT play on Canes - Insight. So, imagine: Noles In Sight (and fans have a community where they share pics of themselves losing games). Anyway, that was never pursued. The message board was the driver. Some fantastic posters came over from different sites. D$ recruited @Andrew (who was on Canestime as a premium member), Peter, and others. The rest is history.

I spent half my workday bouncing back-and-forth between the grassy, smack board and the ***** chant smack board. Good times for sure

Miami-hurricanes.com. The owner refused to give it to the members even though he did nothing with it. Every year we were offline for 2 weeks while we waited for him to pay the $25 renewal fee. Site no longer exists.

After all these years, I had hoped Shadow would reach out to let us know he was still okay and active here or elsewhere. Hope he’s enjoying this as much as all the rest of us. Also wonder what happened to mfcane.
