Are we really surprised that a guy with no head coaching experience that runs a scramble drill defense with no backbone with the players is struggling like I am a huge fan of the team but never been fully invested since the hire just knew we were a coaching cycle away but it is worst we are a whole program away that needs to completely start over

Absolutely. However tackles in this defense isn't an indication of importance. It is an indication of where the players are funneled. Agreed 100%, they have a ton to do however defensive ends make this defense run by their outside pursuit. The fact that we haven't had at least basic tackle play and since Norton and Gerald Willis for the most part has led to the importance of good linebacker play to stop the run to contain underneath etc. When you're a linebackers are beyond basic it frees up the safeties to make plays when you're playing a cover 2, Tampa , basic zones etc. So yes the safety's generally do lead this defense and tackles because the ends pursue upfield the linebackers are held in containment with the guards and receivers and the safeties run free. But without at least basic play from the other two units we're getting exposed regularly which is why you see exactly what's going on now.

Avg margin: 2.67 points

Against inferior opponents, although some more inferior than others.

This all the analytics necessary.

This is what poor organization and poor coaching does to people.

Lol facts. While I appreciate the insight, bro has been matter of fact about incompetent Mandy being gone but in recent weeks due to “big” wins against NC St, Pitt, and GT (all avg teams) has passively walked that talk back.

And now suddenly isn’t so matter of fact. Even after another embarrassing performance.

At least keep it real with your fans, Crib..

I went positive and stated numerous times they would win out. I went with the ‘path’ to ACCCG. I was so tired of wanting to rip my ear off and eat it I just went positive. But, I knew this house of cards would crumble. Well, it crumbled, at Doak. Now let’s see how serious they really are about football. Tick Tock

Diaz's luck ran out today. His roster and the opponent were not enough to overcome his incompetence.

He was who we all knew he was.

I always said he was fired , his only chance of keeping his job was a miracle run to win out. I haven’t walked anything back. He was fired NC State week but pulled that win off. That’s why I posted ” he was done” after Unc. Being told that I assumed we’d lose that Ncsu game. Which taught me a lesson , speaking so definitively was wrong. I should’ve stuck with my original comment “ he’s done unless he wins out“. I put myself in a bad spot.

Regardless if he won out / saved his job I‘d gladly ate that L. I’m confident enough in what I post to accept the occasional ****.
