Guess not as it looks like 2 conf. champs (Utah and probably CLemson) will not even make the playoffs!! If Purdue beats Michigan, we could have 3 conf. champs not mke the playoffs.

What?????

They are very important except in extreme circumstances, like having 2-3 losses while others are undefeated or only 1 loss

conference titles in today's CFP are a tie breaker, not a significant data point as they go by resume and losses

why would a 3 loss utah get in over a 1 loss team with better wins on their resume just because they play in an easier division and conference?

as SFbayCane said, they'll matter in '24 but also will leave room for at large's which is the way it should be

It’s not gonna happen but usc still has a better resume than osu and Bama, playing an extra game vs a top 10 team shouldn’t punish them.

That USC defense has been awful all year. They are 119th in yards allowed per play. Michigan is 3, UGA 4, Bama 5, OSU 18.

To me, that's going to play a major role. Their middle backer is 6'6 200 pounds.....the skinniest backer i've ever seen in my lifetime. I know some on here were all about the kid when he was in the portal, but i was not one of them. He accumulates tackles and plays well in space/blitzing but he's awful in the run game and can't get off a block to save his ***.

Both USC lines would struggle against the schools above. It would require Caleb going ape**** in a game against those teams because we saw how average they can be with a hobbled Williams last night. He's not an elite pocket passer. He likes to hold the ball long and/or go sandlot.

Well there’s always gonna be at least ONE conference champion left out of the CFP. Because there are 5 major conferences but only 4 spots in the current CFP. It is what it is. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Im actually of the opinion that the top 8 should be conference champions. If that were the case, within a decade there would be a rebalancing of power throughout college football.... But the folks at the top want none of that. lol
Yeah, the way it's been with a P5, I thought it'd be good to have the 5 P5 champions get in + 3 at large, but the more I have seen, having any committee that makes any decisions, including choosing those 3 at large teams can produce BS. No matter how many teams are in a playoff, I wish it was all decided on the field whatever the rules are to make the playoffs. No playoff committee needed.
