Is just BS.. This just my opinion of what's going on

I believe it's Butch Davis.

I believe this is who the likes of Blake James, Ted Chwartz, Paul DiMare and Stuart Miller want, but they need to be politically correct in the process and need to create a wide-open search.

All this talk of Davis being the fallback option; it just appeases everybody in the search process. Shoot for the Longshot guys and big names and if you don't land them, Davis now looks like a good third or fourth choice to all those folks who were against him. It's a win-win for anyone and makes it look like the search firm and committee wasn't lazy or didn't exhaust every option even if we all expected the same result..

In the end, there is too much competition out there for coaches this season and any big named guys out there are going to have a lot of options. Miami might be an attractive gig, but next to Southern Cal, LSU, Florida State (should Jimbo go to Baton Rouge), the Canes won't be the first-choice option for a lot of guys. They will outbid us for guys like chip because he gunna demand like 6 and were willing to pay 4. We have to fix a lot of issues, better our resources and most importantly WIN..

The dominoes are going to fall a certain way and when it's all said and done, I believe Davis will be Miami's best option.

If the committee chooses a Mario or Schiano over Butch ... they will fail Before they even start, it will be a tough ride up and those guys don't have what it takes, the powers know that, even if they won't admit it. Go canes!

I cannot f***ing stand this defeatist mentality. We have the strongest recruiting base in the country, an above average roster with a quality soon-to-be junior QB, and we play in the weakest subdivision among the Power 5. Woe is us.

Too much competition for coaches? F*** that. Miami never won championships by conceding anything or being scared of competition. Open the motherf***ing checkbook and make it happen. No excuses.

THIS!

"Wah nobody loves us and programs who dont even have half our titles are better!"

I agree with the result, if I had to put money on it I think we end up with Butch. However, I think we'll legitimately make a run at some top notch guys. Just because these guys are, in all likelihood, going to stay at their respective school (if we go that route) or go to 'better' programs doesn't mean we aren't trying to land them and won't do our due diligence. We'll attempt to land an established guy and probably fail and then the better question becomes where does Davis rank in relation to these less established coaches. Unfortunately, D$ and others have been reporting that Flake likes Scrong.

They are waiting to see who is available before they make a decision.

WTF is wrong with that?

It's nice to spew this 'rah rah' rhetoric but do you actually believe what you are insinuating? Yes our job is attractive but do you actually believe our job is more attractive than USCw, LSU, and possibly FSU/UT/UGA?

There is no 'defeatist mentality,' there is only history. And history says we are cheap. History says we won't open the checkbook. And history says we won't hire some elite, established coach. ALL of this despite our very palpable championship potential. We simply don't invest the necessary money into our football program. There are more attractive openings on the market than ours, that's just a fact. And there are only a small number elite coaches available to hire. We will probably get the short end of the stick.

It only seems long and drawn out because we had a mid season firing.....most thought Golden wouldn't be fired until today..

OK makes sense!!!!! School spending 250K for giggles. Hope Santa comes through for you.

Good we had this midseason firing, however. I think we would have been 4-8 (as I predicted) or at best 5-7 if Golden was kept until today. I just hope we don't opt for some inexperienced clown like him again. Butch is fine with me. Just no Strong, no Wario, or somebody's coordinator.

Yeah, Strong and Mario are the only names that make nervous. I would love one of the home runs like Chip or Patterson. I think Herman is gonna be great. Butch would be fine with me. I even think guys like Schiano and Chud would do well.....but please no Strong or Mario..

I feel like the people hoping UM makes a home run hire (I'm one of them)... Are just like the people who thought Goldie could win 10 games..Recent History says we're ****ed..

That's why you can be happy for Butch wanting the job. Most of us believe we have an idea of what we'll get bc he's been here. Makes me feel like the BBB supporters are the smart ones bc they are thinking what is our BOT most likely to do in this situation.

Always follow the money.

They're making a legit run at Kelly, and they think they can land him... The post about this the other day was accurate. Butch is a back up candidate, but the front runner(s) would be a grand slam to Butchs home run.

Don't be surprised if the "sesrch" continues until the end of December... The AD is actually trying to re-establish this program's dominance With this hire.

No way this goes anywhere near Jan 1.
I think it's butch. If it wasn't or he felt like he was getting screwed, he'd be in on other jobs.

Nobody else is interested in him. He's an old coach who hasn't coached in a while and who hired a bag man to recruit for him at his last gig, where he was mediocre. Nobody is knocking the door down for Butch.

Butch is a TV analyst...if he's the #1 choice, why not hire him already? He's available.

I'll say this every day until I'm blue in the face:

Butch Davis will not be Miami's next HC. They will willingly hire Chud, Schiano, Strong, and Wario before they hire him.

As such, putting your eggs in the Butch basket is idiotic and does more to get us a corch than the coach we need.
