You might have been on to something if you'd mentioned that Mensah has two years of eligibility left.meaning Coleman will be starting
not sure why most of you are against this and wouldn't want him starting his sophomore year
Say goodbye to talented HS QBs like Nickel/Coleman coming here anymore if this continues to be the strategy, it will be top portal QB or bust annually. I personally don’t mind rolling with one of the 2 talented guys you recruited here next year in Coleman/Nickel after the battle it out **** you can even bring in a young portal QB with potential to battle it out with them instead of a top dollar guy(think husan longstreet) .. ND went to Carr after Riley Leonard and still was a playoff level team, and now Carr is widely regarded by many as the top signal caller in the country next yr..Coleman possesses that sky high potential in my opinionIf Mensah has the season we expect him to have, then it’s hard to say no to another portal QB
Just needs to add 15-20 lbs n he’ll be ight weight wiseMario isn’t trusting a 170 pound QB. We will always go portal lol
Yes Coleman will redshirt and Nickel will start next year IMO.The 1st practice for Mensah at Miami and this is what we get. Mensah looks like he could be our most accurate QB in, forever. I will not be shocked if he is better than Cam. His decision making will surely be better. He has put on weight, not bad weight. He already appears to have taken full leadership of his guys.
Coleman is so small, their is zero chance he isn't a RS.
Another year and Judd still hasn't gotten his accuracy issues down, pun intended.
Nickel has reshaped his body and looks comfortable right now. Completely different from last year. By default, Nickel is a given to be the backup.
QB room set day 1 of Spring.
Cmon fam I understand this yr is obviously Mensah time but nobody knows who will or wont be starting in 2027 at this point lolYeah I personally don’t see either Dereon or Nickel starting here unless injuries happen. Portal just seems like the way forward right now.
I can see why you have concluded that, hard to deny the results of the one spring practice in shorts that we saw a few videos of.
Of course I understand this. I am just speculating and it will be fun to look back when it is time to decide who our future QB is. We will get to see who was right or wrong.Cmon fam I understand this yr is obviously Mensah time but nobody knows who will or wont be starting in 2027 at this point lol
He’s definitely beating out Emory on the depth chart at the University of Miami.he's got it. a real gunslinger.
after one practice and seeing his HS press clippings, it's obvious:
he will beat out Emory and Judd this fall, and be the backup by week 3, and then will take over next year as QB1
oh wait, my mistake .... that was CIS last spring after Luke Nickel's first day
I’ve been on this before he even got to campus. Even during the playoff run, when he had just joined and was only practicing, the same traits were there. That’s consistency, not hype. From a real evaluation standpoint, the release is elite. Quick, compact, no wasted motion. The ball jumps out with natural spin and easy velocity. That’s not coachable, that’s something you identify early.NOTHING is "safe to say" when it comes to starting jobs.
But I fully expect Dereon Coleman to be throwing bombs to JoJo Trader next year, right? Wouldn't that be safe to say?

And the size argument is lazy. Acting like smaller QBs can’t win college football? Go look at Bryce Young. He just showed you exactly what that looks like at the highest level. And this kid’s only going to keep developing physically anyway.
He’s controlled, on time, and comfortable. Nothing is forced.
It’s early, sure. Bookmark this for next year
*Sighs with conviction*What about @TouchMoney26 , who is 0-for-every-hot-take-ever?
Yeah, if he grows 5 inches and gains 40 lbsmeaning Coleman will be starting
“final 4 playoff teams, 3 of them were portal guys”.Portal QBs have given us a winning program and changed trajectory of program overall, also final 4 playoff teams, 3 of them were portal guys and its obviously the best way for a program to stay at a high level. Yea lets throw that away and gamble a season away so QB can develop.
Would be better off sending QB to fau/duke or something as a farming system..![]()
