I really love this kids UM passion

Dallas was the man even as a commit and ambassador in high school. One of my favorites with blades, perry, jaquan, shaq, among others.
 
These are the best players for your program, gifted athletic guys that work hard. Not only are great ambassadors of the Miami Hurricanes, they relish the oppurtunity to be ambassadors.

Ala Braxton Berrios, Rusty Medearis, Michael Irvin, Ray Lewis, Dwayne Johnson, Edgerin James.

I connect to those guys because as a fan, had I played football at the U, I would want to be those kind of guys.
 
To me this is the main reason I think we do what we are supposed to do Saturday. Yes we are at home and are 12 point favorites over what seems to be a somewhat pedestrian FSU squad with a 1st year head coach. This is however our biggest rivalry game. This is the type of game where you can throw out the record and most anything else one might think could give either team an advantage. Heck, we haven't beaten these guys at home since 2004 and we haven't given FSU a good *** whooping in a very long time.

Then consider that we are going up against a QB in the Frenchman with considerable big game experience who is mentally tough and will not be easily rattled or intimidated. Consider that despite what they have shown so far this season the noles still posses very good talent on both sides of the ball.

Perry on the other hand is inexperienced and will be making his 2nd career start. This will be Perry's first time taking part in the UM/FSU rivalry. As talented as Perry is we have never seen him in a big pressure situation. How does he react if we somehow go down 2 touchdowns early on? How will he handle the enormous pressure of a potential game winning drive at the end of tbe game?

Having said all of that there is one thing that I have a tremendous amount of confidence in. That is the character and internal leadership that we have that this team has in abundance. Guys like Homer, Dallas, Cager, Thomas, Gauthier and Harley on offense. Jaquan Johnson, Redwine, MJ, Bandy, Quarterman, Pinckney, Joe Jackson, Willis, Garvin, DJack and Garvin on defense will not allow us to lose this game. Add the young talented leaders in the making like Perry, Jordan, Scaife, Blades, Silvera, Hall, Smith, Finley, Steed and Carter and not only do I feel good about this Saturday, I feel really good about the rest of the season.

Forgive the drawn out post with all of the names but I wanted to make a point about the type of kids we have on this squad. This is a special group and they are going to make us all proud. Saturday cannot get here soon enough!

fav current player .. straight savage since we gave him an opportunity to play.. great ambassador too

Though the edge at QB goes to FSU due to experience, it doesn't matter if your line can't block. There will be sacks and picks. FSU will be one dimensional. Outside of a few breakout runs, their running game will be contained. Against UNC, the Miami defense had 20/46 zero or negative plays. I think UNC's O-line is better than FSU's.

Secondly, don't discount Perry's 1st start last Thursday where the entire nation was watching. He was calm going like 9/9 throwing the ball in the 1st quarter. He also said in an interview this week that he would treat this game like any other game in his preparation and mental focus even though it's not just another game. Perry seems to be gaining that cerribrial calmness that a QB needs. Let's see if he brings it to the game and how he responds to adversity in a rivalry game.

Was he up to 225 before? Honestly I'm glad he dropped the weight. He had the right intentions but he went a little overboard lol. Whatever weight he is at now seems ideal for him.

Yeah going into the fall I think he was around 225. I agree, his mid section was carrying too much weight. Next year after another offseason he can probably carry a 220 with around 10~ body fat and be very slim
 
Easily my favorite Cane.. with Trajan being a distant second.

Give me old school, hard working, sh*t talking ballers. Load the roster full of them.
 
i see Deejay & akers as having similar arcs.

both are true sophomore running backs playing for powerhouse florida universities who were big time recruits that primarily played QB in high school. one from mississippi and the other from georgia. akers definitely came in with far more hype as a RB, so itll be interesting to see if Deejay can prove to be the better player when all is said and done.

i certainly think he can be. and one could argue that he already is.
 
This could turn out to be the type of game DeeJay hits them up for 200 yards. He's just got that slipperiness about him the way he runs with balance and at angles, I could see him getting past FSU's front 4 (their best unit by far) and gashing their 2nd and 3rd level for 10-15 yard chunks all day.

I believe he's our best player on offense regardless of position. He rarely goes down on first contact and he's patient on finding the holes. Need to get the ball in his hands more.
