BUT one score keeps running through my head and it is ridiculous but won't go away so here we go...FINAL SCORE Miami 31 Ohio State 19 and to justify it my mind remembers the 2017 ND score 41 to 8 where if I remember ND was favored plus our defense scored. Tomorrow our Defense will score even Special Teams will be a factor and for some reason I see JO JO going wild as he competes with his former team mate. It just keeps rolling around as foolish as it seems but I had to post it as I see our team having every aspect contribute. My logical mind sees a score like Miami 20 Ohio State 13. But I'll stick with 31 to 19.

I want to be wrong, but this is our first Rodeo in more than two decades, and this is OSU's second in a very short amount of time. Taint has the expectation and the infrastructure to be in and out of the playoffs going back through the past decade through the Urban Meyer era. None of this is new to them. It is to us. I think Taint wins narrowly, by less than a TD, in a low scoring game, say 20-16.

This reminds me of the time the Miami Dolphins went to the Super Bowl (VI) for the first time in January of 1972 to cap off the 1971 season. They played the Dallas Cowboys under Tom Landry. Roger Staubach was the QB and Bob Lilly anchored their "Doomsday" Defense. The Fish had a puncher's chance, but Dallas won, 24-3, because they had been there the year before and had the experience (losing to Baltimore in 1971 at the old Orange Bowl). The Cowboys had the experience the Dolphins lacked and it showed.

I don't think that Miami has the kind of experience gap that the Dolphins had in 1971, and they have a real talent parity with Taint, but I think OSU has strengths at WR that will make themselves felt in the last two quarters of a tight game that will be the difference. I just don't think we have the horses to keep up with that. It's not Beck, he's quite good, it's the WR room that has yet to show itself.

If Cam were back there I might change my mind, given his ability to make gold out of lead and extend plays, but I think OSU's QB will be able to get off enough lucky shots to make the difference. My heart tells me that Toney can match that production. My head tells me that Jojo, etc., haven't stepped up enough to compensate for Cornell Tate AND JJ.

I do hope I'm wrong. Go Canes!

While I don't fully disagree with the points you've made, one thing that keeps giving me some optimism is how I've seen our DBs jump more routes than a doorstep package burglar. Our maniac DC has done really well to prepare the defense and put them in positions to succeed.

I wouldn't be surprised if their WRs go off, but I wouldn't be surprised if we pick them off due to positioning and our pass rush.

Miami wins 24-21

They have a redshirt freshman QB making his first playoff start versus a 6th year QB who has won the SEC championship AnD won a road playoff game

I didn't know this but Day said this is their 3rd time in the Cotton Bowl. They are certainly familiar with the stadium. That's some sort of advantage..

It hurts so bad to write this but I am a realist. My gut tells me we lose this game in low scoring affair much like our last one. But the way we play will turn heads and put people on notice more so than our last victory. Our style and culture will be on full display, showing the world we are coming to get what is ours. I pray that I am wrong and I know the usual douche bags will crush me for having common sense. However, I don't believe that losing this game will hurt our evolution. Miami is on track and putting the world on notice. This game will punctuate that sentence. We are certainly capable of winning this game in a close war. I just don't think our QB is capable nor do we have enough complimentary weapons to toney. Hopefully our team is focused enough and has enough determination to impose our will. We shall see

Sorry, but we'll get hammered if we lose, regardless that everyone thinks we're going to lose. There will be no benefit of the doubt.
That said it's really simple to me Beck needs to shine and we win. We can't run our way to victory ala Texas A&M.

I do hope I'm wrong. Go Canes!

But the biggest thing affecting their play could be their 4 week hiatus... we had a tough tune up from TAMU

I’m a realist as well. 24-13 them with a late score to put it away.

I have more confidence in our players than Dawson so he’s the limiting factor to me.

Although I’ll gladly eat crow if I’m wrong.

GO CANES!

Zero chance we score that much. I see this game end up in one of 3 scenarios:

- super close, low scoring game and either team wins 17-10

- OSU kind of controls the game and goes up 17-3. They score late and so do we, game ends up with them winning 24-10.

All of these predictions are completely meaningless.

Check out the predictions before the TAMU game.

Since the common wisdom is that this is going to be a low scoring game, I’m starting to think the exact opposite is going to happen. Although that doesn’t really mean anything either. It’s all meaningless. Every game is an independent event.

If we win 31-19 I will get a Fraggle Rock tattoo
