It’s definitely not the dominant and abusive defense it was last year. Both teams got the ball out quick so the pass rush hasn’t been able to eat, but it’s been good. So far it’s been more bend don’t break which is dictated by them getting the ball out fast. Stop the run, keep the ball in front of you. If they want to throw the ball for 3 air yards all the way down the field, let them. Eventually there’ll be drops, penalties, blown up plays.

They haven’t allowed a TD, but it’s definitely not been as powerful

Wake Forest is going to tear our defense up.

QB passing and QB runs all day.

If Dawson is still trying to force it up the middle instead of maximizing the scoring, it'll get dicey.

Wake Forest will certainly be our toughest test yet but “tear up our defense” is a stretch.. they scored 38 against the lowly Akron Zips full of 2 star & no star players.

The questions coming into the season centered around the OL, DL, and LBs. So far, none of those questions have been answered...and frankly, they shouldn't be at this point. Is it concerning...nah. It is worth monitoring

does anyone have a slight, SLIGHT concern about the defense? We expected a drop off and it may take time to gel...the one thing I remember from the first game last season it how it seemed like Canes were swarming on every play. So far, 3 sacks and 0 turnovers with what feels like way too many plays where opposing WRs are wide open. I trust the coaching staff, but has this crossed your mind? Just a question, not a criticism.

Yes I’ve felt the same way and the scary part is they haven’t played a single team with a pulse… losing both corners when the DL already looks a little suspect and the LBs seeming to struggle in coverage… really hope it doesn’t turn into 2024 where the offense has to be near perfect and win a bunch of shoot outs but I still have some concerns with some of the OL as well

No argument. We shall see. Two games no touchdowns. Didn’t feel right doing any less. Missing Keionte. LB looks suspect. DL will be fine (even if worse).

It's a legitimate question IMO, the defense is a complete unknown for the most part. Wake will be a much better test for both sides of the ball.
You can't get too high or too low based on the current sample

I struggle to see how Wake will slow down the best passing attack in the country..might put up another 40 burger if the defense can stop them from sustaining long drives..if we blow Wake out ND by far will be our only potential loss, Pitt might make it interesting.

We are also going to struggle with OJ, Xavier Lucas, and Jaboree Antoine out for the next couple weeks maybe months

This is going to be a challenge and may very well define the success of the season (along with Off line). Miami has to hang on and piece it together until they slowly return. I suspect Miami can’t afford more than one loss this year due to the schedule/ACC profile.

Different team. I’m not seeing gamebreakers like last year yet. But our offense is going to get 7 a lot more than 3. Last year defense had t win the game so Beck wouldn’t lose it. This year punts and field goals will win games.

No concerns at this time. Playing vanilla right now. Plenty of new guys getting adjusted to the system. I'm confident Heatherman with have these guys balling by the middle of the year. They are plenty good right now but expect them to be dominant as the season goes on.

We are balanced, talented & hungry. Lost a lot to draft at key spots. Will be tough to overcome that.

I'll have a better idea after their game tomorrow but i can see ~21-24 points scored by WF.

They're more high octane than Stanford, and Stanford defeated themselves with dropped passes.

Im sure we'll win, but so far, I'm not impressed with the defense. At any position.

Yes. The defense is not what it was last year. That said, it's hard for me to imagine anyone outscoring this team right now. If some games are shootouts, I like our chances. I think the offensive improvement from last year to this outweighs the defensive dropoff.
