I love what I am seeing, but...

Yesterday told us nothing. Stanford I think we also kept it vanilla on defense after realizing they stink. But with some more pressure by the corners I think we can get some sacks. And Stanford should’ve scored 14 minimum if they could catch
 
There’s room for improvement but I’m not complaining about 6 points total given up in 2 games.

We haven’t made the highlight reel flashy plays yet (sacks, interceptions, etc.) but it will come in due time. Opposing offenses are getting the ball out quickly and trying to dink and dunk their way to success.

Let’s see how we look vs a sneaky dangerous Wake offense next Friday. The secondary will especially be tested due to all the injuries.

We expected a drop off and it may take time to gel...the one thing I remember from the first game last season it how it seemed like Canes were swarming on every play. So far, 3 sacks and 0 turnovers with what feels like way too many plays where opposing WRs are wide open. I trust the coaching staff, but has this crossed your mind? Just a question, not a criticism.

Big drop off at DE. Damon Wilson is not as advertised. UM had 50 sacks last year, expect 25 for 2026. The DT's are the strength of the DL so far and have shut down the run game.
 
D understandably remains a work in progress. View the opening two games as preseason tuneups. D definitely isn’t as physically dominating, but should have a clearer picture a month or so from now.

A- for offense??? That’s interesting. What keeps it from being a plus?
 
It’s definitely not the dominant and abusive defense it was last year. Both teams got the ball out quick so the pass rush hasn’t been able to eat, but it’s been good. So far it’s been more bend don’t break which is dictated by them getting the ball out fast. Stop the run, keep the ball in front of you. If they want to throw the ball for 3 air yards all the way down the field, let them. Eventually there’ll be drops, penalties, blown up plays.

They haven’t allowed a TD, but it’s definitely not been as powerful

Brother, you haven't noticed the the defense looks as bland as prison food? Last year, we had to start fast on defense because we opened vs Notre Dame, a top 10 matchup.

I have no doubt that it will 1 and 9 at LB next week and we'll be frustrated when they each get beat in coverage and when our CBs are playing soft

It all comes down to what 18,99,5,10,8 do. If they play well, we're ok
