Senior year of college for me. Definitely still upsetI was in 8th grade at home watching it with my dad!
Last time I went with friends to an NC gameThat was the last time I had company over to watch the game.
Agree, top 8 is plentyIt is better than the old BCS and bowl system before that, no doubt.
It does devalue the regular season. Each game is not do-or-die anymore. After the first loss, it's do-or-die and even then 2 losses can get you in (3 if you're blessed to be in the SEC).
I think 8 would have been the perfect number though. The first round of the playoffs last year kind of showed that
I'm over that one. I can take getting my *** beat. However I'm still not over 2002 osu.
But I did forever hate Les Miles for running a fake field goal at the end of that game.Yeah LSU 40-3 im over. 24-31 I am not
I thought I was completely over it too until all the hoopla by the media surrounding Dabo returning to Tuscaloosa a couple years ago to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of that Natty Team. Immediate flashbacks of Lamar getting his lunch taken by George Teague.I'm over that one. I can take getting my *** beat. However I'm still not over 2002 osu.
As a fan who wasn’t alive yet, were we heavy favorites in that game? I know we were in 86 against Penn State, but I know a lot less about this one. I’ve only seen the highlight of Lamar getting stripped.I thought I was completely over it too until all the hoopla by the media surrounding Dabo returning to Tuscaloosa a couple years ago to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of that Natty Team. When Dabo’s name gets mentioned as a possible HC candidate to Bama then it’s “Oh yeah that f*cker was on that team.”
SN: I believe that was Mario’s last game as a player too.
Yea now they’re talking about expanding it even more, possibly to 16, which would be a mistake. The problem isn’t that there’s too few teams, the problem is they’re putting some of the wrong teams in. Eliminate the G5 teams and let them have their own playoff, get rid of the AQ’s, and just put the top 12 teams in.It is better than the old BCS and bowl system before that, no doubt.

I have no problem letting one G5 team in if they are deserving — undefeated, power 4 wins on the resume, respectable power rating.Let G5 have their own playoffs..

Maybe the stipulation is they need to be in the top 15 to have a chance of getting in.
You could also do a mini G5 playoff, with the winner going to the CFP. I feel like that would be cool.
You can’t completely abandon the G5. But them getting two teams in this year is insanity.
The biggest issue is you can lose three in the sec, 2 in the big ten, but are at risk if you lose more than 1 in the ACC.Expanding to 16 would be a mistake, but I know it’s going to happen. We’re going to further devalue the regular season.
I fell in love with CFB because every game used to matter, unlike the NFL, where you had 8-8 teams making the playoff.
Because of NIL, parity is at an all-time high, which has kept the sport competitive. That’s good! Most games still matter because you have a lot of good two-loss teams.
As a result, the initial expansion to 12 has been okay. But even now, you still have games like Indiana-Ohio State that don’t matter. Expand to 16, and God forbid 24, and you get way more of those types of games.
Get ready for 4-loss SEC teams in the playoff. I want to throw up typing that.
If you’re going to make a change, get rid of conference championship weekend and replace it with a play-in weekend. That would be better than going to 16 teams.
Yeah, give me the toughest opponent. It makes for a better inside the CFP documentary on ESPN plusBut if we win that natty by beating Ohio State, UGA, and Oregon, that’s a **** of a story and the ratings will be insane.
I was still a kid at the time so I had no clue who the favorite was but as someone who started watching the Canes in ‘88 I hadn’t seen them lose many games. Having watched us win in ‘89 and ‘91, in my adolescent mind “Oh we made it to National Championship Game we’re winning because that’s just how it goes for us.”As a fan who wasn’t alive yet, were we heavy favorites in that game?
