I know it's ESPN, but....

OP can you link to the article so we can see what ESPN actually says, because they **** sure didn’t put up those percentages and say the predict an 11 and 1 season.

Their analytics have us losing only 1 game the rest of the year. (And I am cautiously optimistic about that 1)

BC-C - 99.0% WIN
TEM - 95.8
GT - 89.6
UNC - 59.7
CLEM - 61.8
UVA - 95.9
NCS - 72.9
FSU - 27.1
LOU - 73.5
BC - 92.5
That's not how statistics work, but that's fine.

Based on these #s, that's what, 3 or more losses.

10-2 is a real possibility

GT, UVA, Bethune, Temple, BC are all absolutely 100% wins

that brings us to 7 wins, then we have Clemson, UNC, Florida State, Louisville, and NC State

we'll be favored vs Louisville and NC State, winning 1 of the other 3 gets us to 10

I'm knee deep in the kool aid but it does make sense when looking at the schedule... BC lost to NIU and just won a thriller against Holy Cross, UVA might be the worst power 5 team in the country, bethune and temple - cake walks, GT will be decent but still lower level Power 5.

Their analytics had us beating Texas A&M as well. Im inclined to believe em because i rate Oh Miami run D and A&M talent. But games have to be played on the field. We need luck with these injuries and focus. Not false hype
They had Nebraska beating CU so who knows

Oh, there still several games to worry about.

I think we beat Clemson at Hard Rock, and FSU will be a difficult road game. The games at UNC and at NC State are two that bother me. I know UNC looked sketchy against App State and Notre Dame blew out NCST on the road, but both games have that ‘off day’ vibe to me.

I'm the last guy that would want to see us get ahead of ourselves and get swallowed up by all this meaningless early season hype because we played well in one big home game. Granted it was a pretty big deal for us to beat ATM in the fashion that we beat them. However I'm always going to preach one game at a time.

Having said all of that, would it not be incredibly amazing for both teams to be 8-0 going into that game at Doak Campbell?

I agree that there are most definitely several games to worry about. Look. As great as the win over ATM was, we can all rest assured that every OC and DC on our schedule will be pouring over every second of game film looking for weaknesses. I'm also sure that those coordinators will find a few things on each side of the ball that they can exploit because as much as we have improved, we are not yet at the level where we can field a team with no discernable weaknesses. Our secondary will be tested. Our ability to pick up the blitz will be tested. We need to cut down on penalties. We need to get Deen and Messidor back. We need Kelly back and most certainly Fletcher. We need to look at our punt protection. We need to do a much better job defending deep balls. We need to get our rushing attack untracked. We need to establish our TEs in the passing game. There's a lot of work to do and we need to keep improving every week.

However there is one thing that I'm sure of. That is that this season will absolutely not be boring and that this squad is going to fight for four quarters. LFG!!!!!!!!

The way the math works out on that it doesn't have us winning 9 out of 10. The odds have us favored in 9 out of 10. The win total it's predicting over the next 10 games is roughly 7.7. It's the sum of all the odds. Easier example, if you play any game 10 times and you have a 90% of winning each time you're expected to lose 1.

So it's predicting a 9.7 win season, or 10 wins when you round to the nearest whole value.
The transitive property does not transfer to the grid iron.

If the OL keeps playing like they are, they will have a chance in every game. Questions going into the game were mainly about the DB's and WR's, and they looked fairly good. A&M's DB's didn't play well. Haven't seen much from the TE's, probably due to Arroyo's injury. They're still down depth-wise, which will probably cost them against the better teams. It's also nice to have coordinators adjust to what the other team is doing. Barring injury, this should be a decent season; good enough to show recruits the team is headed in the right direction.
