I keep hearing how Miami can't complete with the top NCAA programs.

If just armed with knowledge gleaned from reading this board one might think the U was up against all the other second tier schools and the big bad elite programs that are so untouchable they actively provide $$$$ and steroids to their prospects while the NCAA watches to make certain the needles are disposed of properly.

This is folklore my friends.
After last years debacle, were no where near a top level program. If everything goes right maybe in the next 3 years were a top 10 team again, but let's not fool ourselves. We need to recruit.

I like how people are tossing the word cheat around with the NCAA having a cup of coffee with our basketball program.

Why does Miami get caught? Because no one has the ability to STFU Community, Fans, or Media.

The two times Miami got caught in the past decade had nothing to do with the community or fans.

We never got in any trouble with the nevin thing for the 10 years he was supplying players. He personally ratted us out when he got busted for the ponzi scheme.

The basketball thing was addidas getting hit with wiretaps by the FBI.

Untrue.

So untrue as to be a lie.
Being #53 in the country is NOT an “academics school”, it’s Sun Tan U, as it ALWAYS has been. Foote and Shalala tried to change that with no success at all. Just a run of the mill commuter school like Houston, Cincy, Toledo, etc. Never going to change.

How come no other basketball schools that had Adidas as sponsor didn’t get screwed like we did? The team is ***. I’d like to kill Mark Emmert with my bare hands!

They did. Louisville got pretty fvcked and actually had to fire their coach. The big difference was the U basketball team has always sucked with only 2 "good" years where we made the sweet 16. So we didn't have that built up legacy like Louisville had to keep recruiting even with the allegations. Also we already had a very thin roster and had 2 kids declare last year. Then L kicked another kid off the team. No recruiting class didn't help, but that wasn't what killed the team.

We know that but at least they know how to play the game.

We out here openingly discussing whether we should cheat or not like amateurs. The times we got caught the ones doing couldn't help but put themselves in the spotlight, one being a fraud.

The point of cheating is NOT to get caught.

I forgot which comedian did the bit (Chris Rock?), but it was about smart vs dumb criminals.
The smart criminal does a risk analysis and goes for the big theft for the big payoff, and when they get caught
they find a way to weasel out of major jail time, whereas the dumb criminal gets busted for stealing pencils from
a convenience store and does major time.
UM is the latter.
LOL.
We are not good at it.
We have people wanting to break rules not on behalf of UM, but really on behalf of themselves, for self-serving
reasons.
All about making a buck or two or being famous for jock-snitching.
We see it on this board all the time, with people reporting personal stuff pertaining to the players and even
with the ***aloon typists for the UM paper.

Or turncoats like LeBastard. Don’t let him near this program anymore even though it’s being run by fellow Cubanos now

Aight, legit question. Being that I know for a certainty the SEC pays out $ since my little relative played for Auburn and was broke off, my question is this:

So were we cheating to win 5 titles in 18 yrs and play for another 3 within that time frame (should’ve been another 5 in 88 and 00)

Obviously dirty recruiting has been around for a long minute, so what did we do differently?
