When my wife wants heavy furniture rearranged, I always have to stop her and ask her where she wants it moved to before we pick up heavy ****. That's because she will always pick it up and THEN think about where it goes. Bad plan.

I hope UM has already started a search and evaluation process before we fire Golden. Let's not end up with another guy just because we didn't think this through. There are people out there who would come here and do a great job. But if takes time to identify and sort through the options. I think most of our fans understand what I'm saying. Let's hope the admin does.

Deep down you know **** well they haven't

...and won't.

You know the one thing they kept from the Corch Radio era? The "read and react" approach. They ain't gots no plan. Their plan will be to hire a consulting firm to act as a search committee once the few powers-that-be say Alfred is done. The school is very often run like a corporation on things like this- and that ain't exactly a good thing.

A *******jack AD would have a running list, if for no other reason than to sketch the ideal coaching staff and scheme for a money making program that gets fed off TV revenues and the like.

Question is, can Blake James be that guy? Does he have a kick as list of up and comers / accomplished climbers, or one that is as weak as a cast of cheap nobodies to take a flyer on? - that's the question.

This hire will be big, it can either set us back 4 more years or mobe us to the top again, its been awhile since we have been relevant and those kids are growing up to FSU and UF winning not miami, we need to make a splash and hire the right guy that will make us a top team again, if not it might put us in a downward spiral that we might not recover from for awhile

With what we've witnessed in the past decade under this administration, I have little confidence that theyre being proactive, see the writing on the wall, and have a plan.

That said, it's going to be pretty obvious (even to them)in the next couple weeks that they're gonna need one.

They'll pull something together as the season draws to a close and the sharks are circling-- when the media scrutiny is swirling. But probably not until then.

And when they do finally come to this realization, I wouldn't expect it to be particularly strong based on past results.

Just make sure the interview isn't priority one. Get some consultants or whatever the **** you need if you don't have the people already to make sure the product on the field and x o's are up to snub

There was hasty, and I mean like minimal effort, "Let's give the interns a chance," plans when it looked like Golden was going to Penn State back in December. A list of candidates was created to potentially replace Golden and the list is still around but has had actual admin members look at it. Other than that, no further preparations have been made for replacing Golden, but that isn't unusual. No plans would be in the process until around the day after FSU and then some feelers might be put out. But as of right now, a Microsoft Word document of potential coaches exists and that's it.

Is Butch Davis on the list?

Apparently, they've retained the services of Chuck Neinas.

The guy is a wizard when it comes to coaching searches. Great track record. We are in good hands.

This is PRECISELY why I have been so tempered and cautious over the craze to fire Golden and call for blood. Ive been through this too many times now with the way UM does things. They haven't gotten it right in a LONG time. There is absolutely NO reason to think they will have a plan in place. It will be another cluster**** involving some overpaid "consultant" and if its Chuck Neinas again Im going to kick someone's **** in the dirt.

I have ZERO faith in this administration, so I fear after a long and tortured process, we are going to end up with Alfred Shanncoker the IV. With what UM pays an HC, you can forget any 'proven" HCs. Golden was about as good as they could get in that regard. That obviously didn't work.

Honestly, the best outcome here may be to just let Golden run it into the ground, wait for Shalala to go, get a new Prez into UM fast, and then hope that the NEW Administration is less concerned with the "past" and buries the hatchet, and gives Butch a serious thought. That is the ONLY way I see Butch ever being really even contemplated. And frankly, Butch is about the best thing UM could do right now as an HC. NO other coach with his resume would come here for what UM pays. The dude would actually take it IMO.

For those who really are praying for Butch, that may be the only way it happens.
