I have an interesting idea who we should hire...

First call would be to Mark Dantonio.
I know it's a loooong shot but I would at least hear him say no before I hired someone else.

Better chance at the admin biting on Butch. And there is next to no chance that will happen.

This is a great idea...lets hire someone who was a failure at Ole miss, USC didn't want as their HC, and got rejected by WAKE.

That sounds exactly like the type of hire UM should make to revive a program that has been mediocre for more than a decade. A man who is a position coach at best with no coordinator experience and can't get another HCing job to save his life so he has go back to being a DL coach.

Hiring him would scare the **** out of our opponents while getting recruits to sign up by the dozens, where do we sign up?

One guy That intrigues me is Jeff brohm, hc at western Kentucky.

Played many years in the nfl as a qb, coached under petrino and has been very good calling plays wherever he's been.

He had his first year as a head man last year at wku with good results (8 wins). So he'll get another year of seasoning and we can better gauge.

Overall he's young, lots of nfl playing experience, learned under petrino, is an excellent play caller, and already one good season under his belt. Worth keeping an eye on.

Let's just resurrect Lou Saban. He's got a winners last name, he coached at Miami and he got Jim kelly. Can't ask for a more Miami guy than Lou.

Show me another person that was hired by Pete Caroll, Jimmy Johnson, and Les Miles (ringz on all of them)

That has been an assistant on 4 National Championship teams at 2 schools that can recruit like this.

What is LSU ranked in recruiting right now? #2 in the country.

Everywhere he goes he out recruits everybody. Kids love him and they will go to war for him.

our players dont need friends or a guy they can relate too, ( black or cuban ) coach...if you look at the coaches that got these players in south Fl to play their best or even south FL players on other teams...its hard nosed, no none sense, known to be a ******* or a disciplinary coach,

Snelly was tough, made guys run/compete used their speed and ability

JJ the same just put more speed on the D side of the ball...( if he stayed 10 ships by now)

Dennis was a nice guy and you saw the talent erode and he was gone

Butch hard *** and got guys to play using JJs style..

Coaker nice guy..dad like....used Butchs tough *** guys and leaders and when they left you saw the drop off...

Shannon...very tough off the field but was a players coach, approachable wanted to be your pal

Golden pool parties, dodgeball...nuff said

And all that shows is that he is a good assistant coach.
Despite all of that he did fail in his first shot at HC.
That puts him under the unnecessary risk catagory.IMO.
There is nothing tangible that suggest he would be successful as a HC.
IMO

Same for Kiffin except it would his fourth shot at being a HC.

How many coaches succeed their first time out? look at Paul Chryst at Pittsburgh (19-20) but still hired by Wisconsin, Jimmy Johnson at Oklahoma State was (29-25-3) but still hired by the U... Those records are nothing to write home about but the AD saw something in both coaches...

Orgeron failed at Ole Miss and he might not have been ready at the time, but when given a chance to show what he could do as interim Head Coach at USC, he went 6-2 and I believe 2-2 against top 25 teams... USC went and hired Steve Sarkisian the popular choice, but in reality they should've given Orgeron a chance to follow up on his Interim status... We know he can recruit and his players will go to war for him, it's just a matter of giving him another chance, to prove everyone wrong....

Great idea. Hire another bum just because he's a good recruiter. He worked at USC for years, was their interim HC, and they still didn't hire him.

You know who else had a great reputation as a monster recruiter? The fat lump currently occupying our HC office. That's who.

Here's a little clue for the clueless: Anyone can recruit at UM IF HE WINS FOOTBALL GAMES. Field a winner, and you lock up local recruiting. That's it.

Conversely, you can have the greatest reputation for recruiting in the world (see Folden), but if you can't win football games you won't be able to get the top recruits.

Cristobal would be the worst!! 1. He already left on us for a "better gig". And Yes I know Alabama is better, but if he does really well at Miami which we would obviosuly love then he would leave for the next biggest offer ASAP. and 2. He got Fired as a head coach at FIU. Do we really think he's become a head coach that can resurrect our program after 2 yrs under Saban?

I would rather have Orgeron, Schiano, Butch, and plenty others with a lot more successful experience.

FIU's AD is among the worst in the country so you can't take the termination without a grain of salt. If Mario did get Miami back up and running it is unlikely he'd leave as it becomes one of the best jobs in the country when we are winning. Financially, he could make more elsewhere. Also, don't want to devalue the experience he is getting working under Saban to change his ways since he was fired at FIU. He was also named National Recruiter of the Year.

Orgeron deserves a 2nd chance as a Head Coach. Orgeron brings a ton of experience, as A Head Coach, an Interim Head Coach, Defensive line Coach, and One of the best recruiters out there... He won 2 National championships here at The U, and 2 at USC...People will point to his time at Ole' Miss and that he failed there...

What about this makes you think Mario is any different then golden? The only reason people are saying this is because he's an alumni, no other programs are saying let's hire Mario

These 2 coaches' record in totality is of a professional that does not have the comprehensive know-how to BOTH build and sustain a program; a one-trick pony.

While both Ed Orgeron and Mario Cristobal deserves another chance, UM MUST LET them get that chance to be HC ELSEWHERE.

Ole **** screwed up when they fired Cutcliffe in the first place. And Orgeron at UM?...no thanks, especially in today's world of zero tolerance for violence against women...nope.

While may be so its a huge gamble and not one that a team in our position needs to take.
The next coach has to have a track record of success NOT just hype.
Not that he looks the part of talks a good game. Actual substance.
He better have won his conference...if it's the lower divisions he better have won the championship (Jim Tressel)...multiple 10 plus winning seasons etc, etc.
A track record you point to and say this guy has been successful as a head coach.
If we can't make a hire like that we might as well fold the program.

No one answered me on brohm? What about Justin Fuente? Or even pj fleck? People forget Malzahn only had one year as a d1 hc at Arkansas state before taking over at auburn so don't use the experience card on me. It's massively overrated.

Also will be interesting to keep track on Tom Herman this year.

I'm tired of the same stupid threads on chaud, Schiano (whom i like), geriatric and shady butch, and Kiffin (who is shady as ****).
