I hated it.. but it worked

It was unbelievable…Give a kid 3 million to put it in the hands of a weak kicker.
He put the offense in a position to win.
No turnovers, no throws that were risky, and lead when needed to.

The offense was vanilla and we beat a strong defense. Sometimes that's all you need is someone who knows their role. In other games he may have to step up, but not in this one.

I absolutely despised taking the ball out of Carson's hands at the end but it worked so what do I know.

Lots to talk about and maybe complain about but f*k that. F*ck Notre Dame. Go Canes.
ND has 1 time out left, they were going to call it after a run, if we do a short pass and get the first down ND doesnt get the ball again

It worked out but

Oh there was definitely a lot to like…But Carson Beck is good enough and being paid enough where it shouldn't be 5 or 6 straight runs for a kick we are probably 50% on.

Give the O-line and Brown credit for the running though, and I defend CMC on some thing on this board, but imo he has to make a throw there. A C.Davis miss and ND win there isn't good enough when your best players on O is your QB. JMO

I hated it too. But I get it for the last drive. Facing a top 3 defense in the nation where 1 mistake can lose the game.

He played scared, it worked tonight but won’t work often.

I’m happy to have the win
That is NOT a top 3 defense! They’re not very good! They PI’d our WRs to death and we went super passive after our long drive to start the 3rd. On both offense and defense

Hey, the kicker did his job. My issue was the way-too-conservative play calling once we got up 14pt. Dawson didn’t call a great game in my eyes
He didn't cover himself in glory tonight. I think he takes the reins off going forward.

It's abundantly clear now that Ward was changing plays at the LOS. Probably even in the Huddle.

Dawson curled up into the fetal position up 14 points tonight.

Tonight could have been like 2017 - we could have run ND out of the god**** building if we'd been aggressive with our play calling.
No this was a much better ND team than the 17 team. I'm not surprised it was close. And if Beck is slinging it all over in the 4th that doesn't guarantee success. So it's not what I would have done but it worked. That's the best defense we'll face all year.
