I hate to admit.

Only way that's the same argument is if you consider his SON his friend... The only insistence he had to give up play calling was from you all on here. Not gonna get into the argument of how hamstringed he was by easily the worst offensive line here in God knows how long. But when it was all said and done HE was willing to give up play calling. He even interviewed several options for oc. But when the board insisted lil johnny had to go he fell on that sword... As much as I love this program I'm not gonna blame a man for not firing his own son. My issue was why did he ever have a job at all.
I will blame him for not firing his son. Thats nepotism and if its costs you your job, then bye. Im not gonna cry about things coaches don't have. Richt recruited alot of busts on the OL, highly rated. Herbert, Campbell etc were highly rated OL and maybe our own evaluations should have sent us elsewhere.

The best way to describe our retarded administration is look at our coaches after they’re fired. That tells you what an abortion this program is.

Yes, Golden's teams put up points early. That wasn't because of him, it was despite him. Poor S&C led to a huge drop in performance throughout the game and the defense let games slip away. I don't even want to think about the photo shoots he'd encourage this time around.

Let's just find someone better. And that starts with an AD who knows football.

Orange Bowl.webp
Miami football died with the Orange Bowl. I’m convinced.
Curse of the Orange Bowl on the son of the Mayor who orchestrated it. That grand old stadium-- that should have been an American National Historic Landmark-- let the Canes know how it felt about them leaving after all it did for them, with the last Virginia Game - their TEs are still running wide-open routes with nobody within ten yards of them. Shannon had that patented deer-in-the-headlights look that Manny seems to be adopting lately.

You guys realize Golden would've pulled a Manny had he fired D'No, right? That was his scheme that D'No was running. The guy was destined for failure and a horrendous fit.

And Manny is undoubtedly going to become the 5th HC in a row that'll be unable to get a HC job again, save for UTSA.

Another great way to judge Blake and our administration is the quartet of death:

1. Handing Golden an extension after a 6-6 season.
2. Failing to issue Golden an ultimatum after year 3 of fire D'No or you're out.
3. Extending Richt in June when he was under zero threat of being poached.
4. Hiring Manny

Al goldens tenure here was the most fundamentally sound our team has been in the last 15 years. I can’t explain how much it hurts to say that. We are always out of position. Always missed assignments. And even worse he had better eye for talent and development of players. Until we improve on the basics we are going nowhere. So many coaches do so much better with less.
Truth hurts and there’s certainly some truth in that statement. Defense was maddening though. But **** our defense is maddening now too, everytime we score we just let the other team match right down the field directly after

Blake isn’t a real AD , that’s why he does dumb ****. The point of an extension is rewarding a coach and trying to keep teams from poaching them. Nobody on the planet what’s our coaches lol. Penn State didn’t even want their golden boy that played under Paterno.

Golden's flaw was his commitment to his best buddy running the defense. Had he kept Fisch and installed a new DC then Miami would have been a consistent challenger for the ACC. He brought more discipline to the team in the weight room and classroom. To be fair, he had to navigate the sanctions which was an enormously dark cloud over recruits' heads. I am not a Golden fan, but I would take him, Fisch and any other defensive coordinator right now over our staff.

A championship program has to start with a commitment from the athletic director and the admin to support developing
and financing a winning football program ....

nothing happens without that . end of story.
Yep - this is the absolute truth. Until that gets fixed we're gonna keep replaying the same sad season, year after year.

Oof. Was the year 3 offseason also the year that Golden went AWOL for a few days pleading for PSU to take him away from Miami? So in one offseason Blake not only let Golden keep his butt buddy to the detriment of the team, but he also let Golden completely embarrass the University.

Blake is not only incompetent but he's also completely spineless.

This thread has made me realize that the only alternative for the University at this point after 20 long years is to fold the football program. #DoTheRightThingFrenk

Miami used to be one of, if not the best programs when it came to developing players. People are under the misconception that we brought all these 5-star guys in back in the day. Actually, we used to bring in a bunch of 3-star dudes and by the time they left Miami they were performing like 5-stars. Remember that “#1 recruiting class” we had under Shannon? To me, that’s when the regression started. While Bama does bring in a to of 4&5 stars, if you notice, they’re constantly improving and getting better while they are there. It’s not just Bama’s accumulation of talent on signing day, but their development of said talent. I’m so sick of seeing our guys regress and get WORSE while they’re at Miami. It all starts with coaching man.
