I find this to be ironic....

Ha! This just came up in conversation watching the ND game this weekend.

Nothing would have been remarkably different, some guys just aren't meant to be the HC.

If you look at his track record as a DC/LBC, he has been very good.

What he is running at ND is not philosophically different than what he was running elsewhere; he just consistently delegates to the wrong people, which will always catch-up to a HC, anywhere.

He was also a terrible fit for Miami, see Anthony Chickillo and host of others who he constantly played out-of-position. He needed a DC who would pushback, not just ride with it, which wasn't NoD, or anyone else he'd have hired. The players he needs fit ND a lot better, especially along the lines.

Ultimately, he needs to be managed, and to focus on defense. In that sense, he is rather similar to one of his successors.

Maaannn, **** that stupid fake storyline. I'm not saying it's your storyline, but we have to stop repeating a lie.

The Shapiro situation, at least the existence of it, was KNOWN in advance of his hiring. But the investigation was still in its early phases, and nobody "lied to Golden" about it. NOBODY KNEW the extent of what Nevin was going to claim, and as things have turned out, Nevin's ACCUSATIONS were largely unsupportable.

All this bull**** that Miami "knew" and "lied to" poor, poor Al Golden is just ridiculous. We were ALL victims of Nevin and his lies, most of which were proven to be untrue. He was just falsely claiming he spent all his Ponzi scheme money so that the government couldn't force him to pay full restitution.
They did know. They hired him because if better coach was hired. They knew they’d leave

@Brooklyndee any inisghts you can share?
I tried to explain years ago that wasn't alfrauds defense. It was no d. & Alfraud was just that loyal to his lil buddy that he ****ed us and it was clear from day 1 of no d. It's not even a big 10 style of defense that we were running. What we ran is schemed perfectly for far less athletic dudes who don't play from muscle memory or repetitiveness. He ran essentially an ivy League defense which was entirely based on mental preparation. How you gonna take Florida kids or our style of athletes regardless, who stand out their entire lives because of how twitchy etc they were and then tell those same dudes forget all of that. Now I want you to learn how to play a mental game. All read and react. How can we be surprised that it's not gonna work when we ask these kids to forget EVERYTHING they ever knew & immediately play a game that's 180° at a high level! **** was madness. Enough of that past ****. I'm gonna live in this moment. **** alfraud and those pedos he corches with.

Remember D'ono, this is weird:

"Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in South Bend through 2027. That is welcome news to the Irish faithful as Golden has developed Notre Dame’s defense into one of the best units in the nation."

If he had fired his friend what might have been????
No no no! It took Golden getting fired from Miami for him to experience his dark night of the soul. It took being humbled then learning at stops in Detroit and Cincinnati of the NFL as a LB coach for him to realize there is more to defensive scheme/philosophy than a 1990s Al Groh playbook. Good for him for learning his lesson and growing from it as he has developed himself into a very good DC who will most likely have a springboard to another HC job in the next few years.

As for what could have been, that is a dead end. He wasn't going to accomplish anything here with a disinterested administration and his goofy defensive philosophy. So you better thank the Lord that things played out the way they did because things turned out pretty darned good! What a bizarre thing to bring up!

This is the same Al Golden who ran the ball on 3rd and goal from the 9 yard line and then kicked a FG down 7 late in the 4th quarter against Cincy. And this dude is saying “if he only fired his friend” 🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽

100%. Nevin’s attorney clearly explained fraudulent conveyance to him, and his cons continued.

The only reason this **** gets brought up as “fact,” despite it being completely false, is because Golden had the audacity to put these claims in his lawsuit against UM. The media then reported on it, and the story getting repeated on social media, etc. But not only is there no evidence, there is evidence disproving it. The Miami Herald even reported on the Nevin stuff the year before Golden was even hired. I read it myself, as many of us did. I’m sure the articles are still available to find. So there is no way Golden didn’t know about it - unless he failed to do his own due diligence.
