I expected this and am not worried

2001 team almost lost to a bad BC, took heroics by Ed Reed to seal the win. All our great teams had trouble getting up for "supposed" weak teams and every team that plays us gives their best effort of their year. A win by 5 won't be noticed when we finish up winning out. We WILL come out strong against VT, guaranteed. It is simply the way we do things. A win is a win. UCF dug a huge hole today and lost their game after getting the lead, Old Dominion is up 17-0 on Virginia. NC lost to App State. Upsets happen and we prevailed. I saw lots of effort and some real stupidity that can be corrected. Simple stuff like Hedley always eluding to his right set him up for the tipped ball that still went 20 or more yards. If I were Manny I'd tell number 11 on their team to enter the portal, Florida kid played his heart out. I take any win as a positive and a chance to realize we need to continue to grow and we WILL.
Hey Fraggle Rock

I believe his point was that good teams can have bad games. Look at 2017 Clemson losing to 4-8 Syracuse.

He's not wrong to be optimistic. It beats the **** out of being negative constantly.

Fraggle? More like FRAGILE, that's the same soft *** **** that got us in this position.

GTFOH and take Dan PEnos with you.

I am not comparing 2001 or any actual team to this team, just realizing we have been here before many times when we should've dominated but squeaked out a win and yes, we squeaked one out today. Save your self pity for when we lose a game like this. Every year there are teams that start the season slow but learn from their performances what needs correcting and today we saw we need to work on running the ball. I am concerned we only used Camron and Dee Jay at RB, I thought we could wear them down using our depth there. We all wanted to see Lingard yet he did not get one carry. I am sure our coaches will analyze our running game as it impacted our passing game so dramatically.

Hedley had plenty of time to get the kick off. He was trying to be cute and it cost him.

Your optimism is refreshing. It’s delusional. But, refreshing.

Yesterday’s performance was pathetic across all 3 phases of the game but particularly on offense. Hopefully, it’s a wake up call to everyone in the building that you can’t just show up and expect to win. Hopefully, it’s a wake up call that finally sparks a culture change in this program. Ultimately, that’s how we’ll be able to judge this coaching staff. Are they going to continue to allow these kids to be mentally weak, or are they going to force a different mindset.

I understand what you’re saying, and it’s possible you’re right. Each team, even the 2001 squad, was challenged by an unexpected, far inferior opponent. That said, be careful how you cite that. People will think you’re comparing the 2019 team to 2001 and will delight in tearing your post apart.

I've been through much worse times as a Hurricane fan, they almost shut down the program and not because of Sports Illustrated. Even our unknown worse teams always played with passion. My first game in the OB was we played ND to a scoreless tie and no way did we have ND talent at that time. Since then I've got to celebrate destroying some ND teams and loved every minute of it. If I gave up in the 60's and 70's I would've missed the greatness and I won't give up on this team. Manny knows what he is doing but it is a few fixes at a time with limited talent. No team in history has the dedicated loyalty of its former participants and the active engagement. Who else has The Rock, Michael Irvin, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp, etc. coming to the U.

The glass is half full, or is it half empty?

Four in a row, under his watch. He inherited a team on the improving trajectory. Now it’s limping and shriveling with the worst ED.
