Over Richt.

Neither is much of an innovator in terms of Xs and Os. Both are dependent on coordinators for the other side of the ball to be remotely successful. Neither one is going to bring in a spread em out and gash em for 50 points type offense. Both are probably over the hill.

But the best Butch team destroys any team Richt ever had, and Richt had all the resources and support imaginable.

Richt's last 2 DCs run a 3-4. I'm not vehemently opposed to a 3-4, but to be honest, when your entire recruiting base is made of players who play 4-3 cover 2 their whole lives, why run something completely foreign to them?

Richt's teams always get pushed around by the physical teams. His S&C emphasis leads me to believe Swasey will be running things for us. Aka, I don't think he cares all that much about S&C. Butch clearly did.

Go check my post history. I've been trashing Butch for weeks b/c I feel we owed it to ourselves to get it right this time. Clearly, Miami's admin STILL doesn't understand what our problems are. But if I have a choice between the two? No brainer I'd BBB.

Wasn't richt oc at fsu during some good years for them ? He has had a pretty good record with qbs. I think he is actually pretty adept on the offensive side of the ball.

Welcome to the Dark Side.

I know you still don't like Butch, but you see that he is way better than Richt or Schiano.

He got them X and O's homie....

Richt returned to Florida State to serve as the Seminoles' quarterbacks coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 1994 upon the departure of Brad Scott. Under Richt’s direction, Florida State had some of college football's most explosive offenses. In his seven years as offensive coordinator the Seminoles ranked in the nation’s top five scoring offenses on five occasions, were top twelve in total offense five times and top twelve in passing offense five times. The 2000 Seminoles offense finished the regular season ranked first nationally in total offense (549.0 yards per game), first in passing offense (384.0 ypg) and third in scoring offense (42.4 points per game).

During his tenure as an assistant coach at Florida State, Richt coached two Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke respectively and was part of two national championships (1993 and 1999).[3]

Richt has won the SEC twice, the SEC east 6 times, gone 145-51, won 10+ games nine times and finished in the top 10 eight times.

And now you, of all people, is out in front leading the charge for Butch, who you've **** on since day 1, against Richt.

Seriously shut the **** up. Go to bed.

Excellent post. I was in on BBB from day one but I can understand why people would want to go a different direction. The thing I like about a potential Butch hire is exactly what we need right now. Davis would no doubt replace Swassey. Davis would bring toughness and tackling back. He would address both lines. In short, Butch is a foundation builder with the added benefit of having a great eye for talent. At this juncture in the programs history we need to rebuild our foundation.

To OP's point. Picture Butch at Miami for 15 years and compare that to Richt's 15 years at UGA.....you already know the answer

A comparison based off of a hypothetical situation.....

Imagine if Al Golden coached Miami for 15 years.

Now compare that to Larry Coker at UTSA.

And just think for 10 seconds about JP Losman at Tulane transferring to SUNY Buffalo.

Now do you want Mullen?

Yeah - they been slamming Butch hard and often - and now that a real big **** is in the wings - suddenly Butch looks pretty good.

Dumb s**ts.

The thing is Butch being better than Richt doesnt actually make him the right hire. But clearly this admin has no clue what Miami actually needs, and Butch would be better than a Schiano or Richt.

Whoever we get, if their reason for hiring is APR, good behavior, and a nice smile, then we are fvcked either way.

The point has always been that Butch is the best option in the pool of candidates the Admin will actually go after. Did anyone really think they would go get Chip Kelly or poach a huge name? Butch has the least risk and highest reward in my opinion. Its a shame it looks like it will not be Butch.
