I don't mind if Florida hires Chip Kelly

boom or bust hire. I'm leaning towards bust. You can't overlook what happened in Philly and San Fran. He is not a leader of men.

Chips offense isn't going to be what it was at Oregon in the sec.

Why? SEC easy is god awful, and the SEC as whole ain't what it used to be.

People underestimate some of the defenses he had at Oregon.

I mean they went from McTeeth to Chip. We would've been doing backflips.

It’s not as if only Chip Kelly can run the type of offense he ran at Oregon. It doesn’t take a PhD to duplicate what he’s done, it just takes game tapes and the ability to pause and rewind.

What was innovative 10 years ago, has been run by many schools with additional wrinkles. So why has no one duplicated, for the most part, what he’s done, since the blueprint is so readily available?

Because defenses catch up, tons of game tape is available and people figure it out. Things that were innovative during his Oregon heydays are commonplace today.

If Kelly can recruit, motivate, lead, and build he MAY have some success. Maybe. The last few years are telling me that the most important factor, leadership, is sorely lacking with this weirdo. One mildly successful year, his first, and then failure after miserable failure in the NFL. So the recent evidence says he’s a failed coach, a poor leader, and a quitter.

Not worried about him. If he ends up in turdland, the bloom will be off the rose in a couple of years.

Mahlzhan is the closest thing in CFB to what Chip ran at Oregon.

Lots of similarities actually.

Grom Gainsville Sun CFB beat writer Robbie Andrue:

"According to a source, Kelly and UF have not reached any kind of agreement. The source said Kelly wants to talk to UCLA, which fired Jim Mora on Sunday."

Look, we were dreaming of Chip coming here as a pie in the sky candidate. Don't deny it. His offense with Miami talent blah blah blah. Chip would be a very good hire for UF. It's not like the guy couldn't find a good DC with a UF budget, right? Now, does it mean we lose to them in 2019? **** no! Richt will have some depth and be ready to FIGHT! Heck, the best news about this is Richt and Kelly would make the Noles State CHUMPS every year!

loll @ Chip going to UF... He already said he wants to stay on the west coast...Plus he doesn't like to recruit... lol @ UF if they hire that guy

Chip Kelly. Brian Kelly. R Kelly. Whatever. It's all the same to me. richt.webp

Kelly just doesn't seem like a east coast guy. He fits in the pac12 but he could probably be successful at uf just needs a d coor.

im begging uf to hire him. please.

frost is going home.

the best offense ive seen this year is in Memphis. hands down. but they wont hire Norvell. not hype enough for them. good.

Chip paid players to go to Oregon got caught and ran away to the NFL.
If he is the guy they hire...here is hoping he puts the gaytors on probation

He got hit with “show cause” band. He will get gators in trouble so I am all for them hiring him.

I don't get why people want UF to get Kelly, here is his track record in college:

- 46-7 overall record
- 33-3 conference record
- 3 out 4 Conference Champs
- 4 out 4 BCS games (1 National Champ Appearance)
- 2 BCS wins

Here are his losses: there are only 7 (rankings below are where the team finished)

2009: @ #4 Boise State (14-0), @ Stanford (8-5) and #5 OSU (11-2, bowl game)
2010: #1 Auburn (14-0, national champs)
2011: #2 LSU (13-1, neutral site game) and #6 USC (10-2)
2012: #6 Stanford (12-2)

- Only 1 of his 7 losses was to a team that finished outside the top 7. That one team was a road game against Harbaugh's Stanford.
- Only 2 of his 7 losses were at home.

Big Wins: (rankings below are where the team finished)

2009: #2 0 USC (9-4, Carroll coached) and #1 8 Utah (10-3, Whittingham coached)
2010: #4 Stanford (12-1, Harbaugh coached)
2011: #1 0 Wisconsin (10-3, Rose Bowl) and @ #7 Stanford (11-2, Shaw coached)
2012: @ #1 9 Oregon State (9-4) and #1 1 KSU (11-2, Fiesta Bowl)

Why do you want this guy to go to UF? How many coaches had a better record during that time (2009-12)?

He would be successful if he goes there. No question about it. I don't think he would stay long though. I also don't know what kinda of success he would have there where at Oregon he was trotting out 270 or 280 pound Linemen. SEC DLs would feast on that. But he's smart enough to adapt I think.

Defensive coordinators have come up with a ton of stuff to at least stem what Chip Kelly's offense ran on years ago. As soon as the popularity grew in the NFL and spread-option elements were focused on by freakshows working 100 hours a week, we immediately saw all sorts of interesting gap/scrape exchanges, safety wrinkles and QBs getting crushed.

Same. This state will embarrass Chorp and lock UF into another decade of irrelevance.
