Look dude is assistant head coach at bama so he has been working directly with saban the last 3 years learning how he does things.

Being there he would know how important it is to have a great staff around you but he also learned it from butch.

I would rather have cristobal as my 5th option than somebody else who doesn't understand or embrace the program history.

The problem is that most of us see a solid 15-20 names we would like to see as head coach before Mario Cristobal receives a phone call. He just is not a strong candidate, and that's before considering that you would essentially be doubling down on an inherently flawed blueprint that gave you Al Golden.

He would never be considered if he didn't play at UM. Being a UM guy is not enough. Mario should not be in the discussion.

OP: You changed your mind on Cristobal because you got that "lowering the expectation" syndrome. It is a virus that has been spreading quickly. The BOT got it first, then the AD contracted the virus. Finally fans are getting inflicted by this dreaded disease. Once you get it, you start accepting mediocrity, feel great about beating the likes of Bethune-Cookman and FAU, and wish if we hire someone like Cristobal. It's a bad virus that there is no treatment for at this time.
