I’m thinking of red shirting next year

After graduating from Miami I pursued two masters degrees at Oklahoma State. At the time OSU was coached by Pat Jones and mired in a perpetual state of suck like we are now. Dennis Erickson was still head coach here when I graduated.

Fast forward. Oklahoma State now has world class facilities - to the point where they could almost host the olympics - as well as some very good players. While they weren’t great this year, they usually play a part in deciding the Big 12 championship. Heck Iowa State is probably better than Miami is. Wrap your head around that.

How could our school allow historically horrendous teams like Oklahoma State catch up and far surpass us? This is mind blowing to me, a tragedy for our once proud school.

Like the user above, Era66, I’m now at the point where I want the program cancelled if we aren’t going to make a big effort with trying. We need a drill sergeant as a head coach. Ironically we had one begging for his old job back but we all know where that got us.

Rant off.

I'll be home permanently, likely still trying to figure out dungeons and dragons with the GF. Since I will be home, I can start training MMA and get back in shape. I went from being 235 to 270 as an over the road truck driver.

Also I can catch up on camping, fishing and hunting, as well as being an uncle to my niece and nephew...helping my stepfather around his house...keep an eye on my 90 year old grandma whos not a spring chicken anymore.

Might even take a few night classes in business, get my ham radio license, learn a new language (spanish).

Probably will watch the FSU game, (we should still kick their ***), but rearranging my schedule just to watch 'Canes football?

...nah man. Nah.

No changes?

probably fully check out once it’s official that this administration and HC are on fully vested in mediocrity

Maybe think of switching fan-hood for a team closer to my home state

I’m probably redshirting. In fact I’m already shirting. Was supposed to go to the Duke game, but instead decided to fly to Miami for Thanksgiving. Enjoyed a nice steak at StripSteak for thanksgiving and I am so glad I didn’t go to Duke to watch that atrocity in the rain.

If no changes are made.
I thought about hitting the portal and changing to another school but my love for the U won’t allow it.

so my choice will be to RS and sit out next year if no changes are made.

you guys playing, transferring ,de-committing,or gonna play.

I’m thinking about playing but giving half effort like the coaches and players. I’ll watch games when I can but I’m not going out my way, I’m not getting upset after losses, and I’m not missing other things that may bring more happiness.

so yeah I may play and just go through the motion.

Have you thought about an online degree from ASU? It’ll give you the credibility to just switch right over.

Not that the thought has ever crossed my mind or anything
Well, USC fires Helton. Don’t know if I can root for USC...do they hire Urban? A lot to consider.

but if a recruit said he was interested how do you know he isn’t?

kind of like these 5 stars coming to Miami and us thinking we have a shot.

I'm a fan of the University of Miami...and as a fan I can tell you with near certainty which recruits that visit our school are not really interested and will sign elsewhere.

and I'm not special...most of the recruiting board could do the same.

If you're a coach, recruiting these guys, man, you just know if you've got a shot. Also, lets be honest...no one is playing Hawaii like that...they are pretty insignificant for a player to show interest there if they arent really interested. A 17 year old ain't plotting for free trips to Hawaii.

I have an online degree from ASU.

So you're telling me thats my out?

Will decide after the early signing period but I’m telling ya, if the Holes get Franklin, or anyone decent, as HC we’re f*cked for years. Years.

Signed my LOI a looong time ago. Gonna take a red shirt next year and spend a lot more time fishing in my new boat. Told my son and his friends on the way back from last nights debacle that we weren't going to anymore games until the coaching staff changes. No money, no season tickets, and no away games. I left before halftime last night. Not because of the rain, I had a poncho. Not because it was cold, I had gloves, a heavy jacket, and thermal underwear. I left because I'd seen that inept **** offense before. I knew what was going to happen, I've seen that show several times in the last few years and I knew there wouldn't be adjustments at half time. I also got ****ed off watching some coach trying to get the kids to dance down to ******* duke.

T. Boone Pickens donated nearly $1B to upgrade Oklahoma State athletics, didn’t he? Or an amount close to this.

Miami needs a major donor to pony up nine figures for athletics.

Red shirting
Good call, perfect idea.

definitely taking spring practice and pre season practice off. Holy Christ the unicorns and rainbows coming from those reports...

Miami needs its own T. Boone.

Yes, when I did my first masters they were playing in a lousy, aging stadium that really didn’t belong in a big football conference like the Big 10/12. Boone really set them up. That stadium is beautiful now, once of the nicest I’ve ever been to. Note it was heavily renovated instead of being torn down and replaced.

In addition to the stadium that money also went to other sports and general facilities. Once after a game he and his wife were flying in his GV over the stadium when his wife said “Look at how awful all of those rental houses around campus look. Will you do something about them Boone?” So all of a sudden the university exercised eminent domain and bought up all of the inexpensive campus housing and used the space to build a new baseball stadium, a new softball stadium, indoor practice fields etc. World class facilities which have made their mark by attracting decent players.

So yes, a deep pockets donor would help.
