I’m not an X and O guy

He will fire Dawson.

How many coordinators has he had in the last 4 years?

If he has any care for the school he will hire a better OC and let them run what they want.

You know the funniest **** about all of this. His Oline grades out better in pass blocking than run blocking yet this stooge keeps allowing or insisting upon interior designed runs.

Cam ward had all day to throw. So does Beck. But let's do another dive and get our running back hurt.

Cam was the part time in-game OC.
There was nothing Dawson could do about it because it produced results..

Cam had all day to throw because he was so unpredictable and could nonchalantly side step to avoid sacks. Add to the fact that he was a legitimate down field threat both with his arm and legs. Defenses couldn't really tee off on him unlike our Beck who is basically a pocket passer and folds under pressure.

I never appreciated how fearless Cam was and he relished the pressure. It was almost like he was baiting the D to come after him.
Any average OL could block for him because he was hard to contain. We also had an amazing Center and release valve called X who could catch anything in his zip code..

Hope and pray someone close to him convinces him his offensive identity is hurting us and won’t get us anywhere.

Hopefully that person(s) opens his eyes and he goes and get a OC that’ll have full control and has a history of putting up points and using its athletes.

Go get whoever the OC version of Heatherman is this year in college.

I believe Mario does love UM and wants the best for it.. so I’m hoping everything I said comes to fruition. If not.. we’re beyond ****ed..

I want to believe but like someone else point out in another thread....I thought we already went through this after Gattis....I guess it didn't take.

My solution

1. Convince Cincy’s Brendan Sorsby to do a Cam Ward, play for 1 yr at Miami and go from 2nd rounder to #1 overall
Cost: est NIL cost 5 million

2. Encourage Dawson to take a HC job elsewhere and hire a new OC.
Note: I haven’t really gone through the list of possible OCs so I will defer to the board. I will suggest a name everyone will hate, Ken Dorsey. Yes he’s a Miami guy. But Josh Allen and Cam Ward credit Dorsey for making them better QBs. And Sorsby is another Josh Allen. I think Dorsey failed at Buffalo because he was very new to play calling and the nfl isn’t where you learn to call plays. Just as importantly, I think Dorsey would be immune to pressure from Cristobal to go caveman.
Cost: about same as Dawson

3. Get a real threat at RB. The RB room is ok but we don’t have anyone who scares a defense. Ask Isaac Brown and send an apology note
Cost 500k to 800k

4. Get a legit LB corps -
Mario has failed to recruit this position so need to get at least 2 good ones from the portal.
Cost 1.25 million (750k for a top LB, 500k for a good LB to play alongside)

5. Replace safeties
Same cost 1.25 millon

6. Fill in other positions Mario hasn’t recruited well
Cost: 2 million NIL for all the other positions combined, focus on DL

Total cost around 10 million-
Half the price of the rumored cost of the Ohio St roster last season (20 million)

Pretty good bang for the buck to have a championship roster at half the price of what OSU paid.
You don't like Poyser and Fitzgerald for 2026?

I’m too lazy to research. Is Dawson doing anything here that looks like his last year or two at Houston? Impossible to envision how the description “Air Raid” could ever apply to his current body of work. Maybe “Air Ball” but def not Air Raid.

More money for staff and NIL. I have no other suggestions.

Get a flexible OC who has shown success at varied programs. Someone not wedded to a single system. Adaptable.

I wanna know what y’all think of Utahs OC. It’s a fun offense to watch but idk if that type of offense is championship material.

Just let Dawson call the plays the rest of the way and make sure Mario and Mirabal stay away. The offensive scheme needs to be tweaked but it’s too late in the season to change.

Slightly artistic so I’ll paint this picture:

Miami is a messy canvass.
Mario is a messy canvass.

Great colors , but no image or direction on how to truly clean it up.

When looking for something different (what Miami should be doing) they need to scorch earth and start with a blank canvass.

It’s much easier to draw a brand new picture on an empty surface vs having to draw over a messer canvass with colors everywhere.

ASU is 1-3 best in Big12 without Skattebo and 1/5 of the resources and history of Miami.

Indiana and Cignetti are a marvel with a rejected Miami QB and a bunch of 2-4 stars players.

It’s a results based world. Anything else is an excuse. Miami best bet is to cut bait, and then hire outside entities with experience to get a new hire that has a history with high level CFB play calling experience. The only way Miami is gonna get back is to do it what made Miami known in the first place.

Innovation. EDGE and a rejection of what CFB has become with others taking the limelight. Miami has tried to fit in since 2005 and that’s why things are the way they are. It’s GOOD to be different.

Until that day, this will continue to happen. Mario peak is a blowout playoff loss as a 8-11th seed. And that’s likely not possible this year.

2 mobile QBs from the portal should be a focus. I don’t know enough to split hairs with Dawson vs other OCs.

It keeps going up the ladder. People hated Coker’s OC, then Coker, then Paul Dee, then Shalala, then all of them were replaced. Eventually the board of trustees were blamed but no one here can name any of them.
and 15 years later

True, but to be fair.. Dawson was a huge upgrade over whatever the **** that Gattis experience was.

If Dorsey wasn’t a Miami guy his name would never get brought up

Let's see if we win 8, 10, 12... With the talent on this team, we could get on a bit of a win streak, and you never know with the ACC. 6-2 could be enough.

Now I think we drop at least one more, then B happens, and hopefully C (upgraded QB). Heck, I'd give the new OC $4-6m for two portal QBs, and I'd take the North Texas kid + the Cincy kid.
