I’m not an X and O guy

Dawson is probably getting fired if we lose another game and definitely if we lose 2 (or more). He will be sacrificed by Mario as the scapegoat.

All of this proves just how brilliant Cam Ward was.

Honestly Dawson is likely better than the potential bad OC hire Mario would make. If you just pushed Dawson to be more spread and aggressive, I think that’d be probably top 10% of potential outcomes for the offense next year. It’d be far easier for Mario to choose a worse OC than a clear better one. Like idk man. Who are we honestly getting at OC that Mario is giving complete control to to even control the OLine scheme and that He/Mirabal have to train the OLine around?

the issue imo isnt that dawson isnt aggressive. its Mario wants to be more conservative and slow.

thats his approach.

it wont change with the next OC, but we all know the parting of ways will come this offseason

id fire mirabal tomorrow. this has been a poorly coached unit all year.

Im a nobody, you can tell by my post count..

But, if we can just cut the penalties by 1/2 or better, I think we would be a "boring" but winning offense.

I'll go back to my room now!!!

Valid discussion but essentially pointless and these always turn into chicken/egg conversations because we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. We've run the ball 26 consecutive times on 3rd/4th and 1 or 2. 26 times in a row. Is Mario dictating that? When we get into a 3rd and 1, does Mario demand Dawson to line up in 13 personnel and run duo? I have thoughts about that, but at the end of the day, nobody really knows what kind of interference Dawson is getting, if any.

So these are moot discussions, albeit important and valid. And the end of the day, everyone's complicit, starting and ending with Mario. But I simply cannot accept the fact that one person is solely to blame for running the football (Mario or Dawson) on 26 consecutive short yardage plays, when we're not exactly great at it to begin with. The entire operation is broken right now. The plan of attack, the execution, the trust, the flow, the creativity, it's all completely stuck in neutral and not good enough, and that's on everyone, Mario and Dawson obviously included and at the center.
Dawson repeatedly called the OL "elite" today. He reiterated a few times how much trust he has in the OL.

Pretty fair assessment. The problem is we can't.

I’m too lazy to research. Is Dawson doing anything here that looks like his last year or two at Houston? Impossible to envision how the description “Air Raid” could ever apply to his current body of work. Maybe “Air Ball” but def not Air Raid.
His offense was very similar at UH and the running game was virtually identical. It’s an adapted air raid with more of a power run game. But UH ran more tempo and didn’t use the condensed sets as frequently.

23 consecutive runs on 3rd/4th and short is completely ridiculous for everyone involved. ****, even people not involved. If we ran play-action once in that situation, the opposing DCs head would explode like that dude in the crowd when Clayton Bigsby took his hood off.

My expertise is more of the rules.

So here is my question. Mario is a terrible gameday coach, and he’s not going anywhere. So, what do you think is the path foward? Which option? Help me out.

A. Dawson stays and he runs his offense without any interference at all OR

B. Mario replaces Dawson with another OC and this new OC runs his offense without any interference AND

If option B is your choice, what OC would you want?

It’s a slow day in the office. And I’m still ****ed about Saturday.

Have faith. Once Mario loses the players it’s gonna be a revolution. He won’t survive long. I could see him being canned with another couple of losses.

The fans have quit on him - players aren’t far behind.
