Sorry if this mini day dream already has a thread on it.

Imagine if the college football playoff was in effect from the early 80s and onward. Anyone else think that between the big 3 (considering what they all did during that time frame and the fact that the majority of home grown talent played for the big 3) had a legitimate shot at bringing the natty home to the state of FL for a lengthy streak? Considering UM owned the 80’s and early 90’s which transitioned into FSU locking up the later half of the 90s, and Miami re-emerging shortly after. UF also being a serious contender for a fair amount of seasons. Not positive but from vague recollection and not using google, a big 3 program pretty much finished in the top 4 pretty much every year.

Turds were really only title contender during a small stretch under Spurrier and the four Tebow years.

Don't think they belong in the same conversation as perennial contenders Miami and FSU were in the 80s and 90s.

But your premise is internesting. Not sure if getting in a playoff the years we got shafted and what would have likely been multiple rematches against the Noles would have netted us more, less or the same number of titles.

We would have been shafted more ways than one...
Thank goodness we're able to get it done on the field..

The fact that we were independent and not named Notre Dame would have kept us out.
