It's fairly easy. Unless you have a QB where you are 100% certain that he'll ball, you go portal.

Nickel has one year in practice to prove it.

Atkinson is much further along than Nickel and would have two seasons of competitive reps under his belt.

I think Nickel can play, but are you convinced he can get Miami to a championship next season?

I don’t know about this. Nickel and Coleman still have time to prove themselves but you obviously are looking at a championship roster next year. You take no chances. If there is an elite talent you have to explore options.

You can’t promise anything to anyone.

I agree. I also believe recruits believe in their talent and that they will be the one to actually stick and start.
 
At some point these recruited QB's need to play , if not why are we wasting time and money for them. If we roll with a current QB and not a portal Qb. Think of the NIL funds that would be available to do some additional key recruiting or other portal takes ?

Didn’t they just beat Bama?

We have more talent than Tennessee, a better coaching staff and play in a worse conference.

I mean sure, we can stumble with the QBs on our roster but I am not as sure as others we will fail miserably. That is just mope talk.

Anderson, you're likely correct. But I wouldn't rule out Nickel or Coleman being the guy.

That said, I get the POV that you want a stud QB in Malachi's last year (along with the other stud WRs we'll likely have).
