HYPOTHETICAL: Banda as DC

-He's been with Manny at 3 different schools.
-Spent 6 years working under Manny.
-Had guys like Redwine developing and improving.
-Knows Manny’s defense and would keep the system in place.
- Young, energetic guy.

Bonus: the money saved from not hiring an experienced DC can be used to bring in a great OC.
That assumes Richt will hire one, though.

Anyway, promote Banda to DC and keep the defense in place— thoughts?

No.

Okay, let me get this right. Banda coaches 50% of the secondary. That is, 18% of the Total Base Defense.

PASS!

Wouldn't surprise me if he got it. If he can run Manny's D effectively, why not? To be continued.

If out of all the possible candidates we can hire the best we can do is promote Banda to DC then this program is truly dead. JMO

I’m concerned with how this class is going to suffer if Banda leaves, TS and a couple of other guys might go, but that is an awlful excuse to name somebody the DC. You shouldn’t be making decisions like these based on one recruiting class. If the choice is keep Banda as DC or him leaving I would opt to see him leaving, but I hope he stays as SAF coach.
I read on a few articles some names that appeared attainable and exciting like Ansley, DeRuyter and Shoop, we will see, but I will defer to Ritch on this one.
I know this is a unpopular opinion, but I trust Ritch on figuring out the coaches, especially on Defense.

I think Bandy leaves with Diaz. Even if offered here, Bandy must sense that Richt is on the hot seat and will last 1-2 more years, meaning he'll be looking again. At Temple, he can cut his teeth as a DC and will likely have more job security.

If Diaz himself won't bring him as a DC to TEMPLE why should Miami promote him? Even if its in title only like Thomas Brown
