Hurricane History

Opinions are like ********, everyone's got one.

That's why we have these boards so everyone can take a dump here and relieve themselves. The alternative is anally retentive or constipated.

Take a look at our hefe-in-charge, dumping and tweeting are synonymous with him. Right or wrong, he feels like a million afterwards.

Miami was first major Southern School to have black football player in 1966 when Ray Bellamy signed a grant in aid. He had a great sophomore season as Freshman didn't play back then. His football career was cut short by a serious car accident. Miamis top skill players most of the 70s were African American but not many from Miami. FSU and Florida signed first black players in 1968. For someone to suggest that Miami was like a community college before the 80s and call themselves a Canes fan is ridiculous

Ray took a lot of crap when Miami went to play up in Gainesville especially.

FSU's first black player came right after Ray, but got so much more hate up there (not that Ray had it easy) that he killed himself in 1972, his senior year.. His name was Calvin Patterson. Tragic story. Ray took a lot of crap when Miami went to play up in Gainesville especially.

Never heard the story of killing himself. That is such a shame but I grew up with segregated fountains and beaches among others and can't imagine how they handled it daily

Remember how Bellamy handled it well externally but as to hear a lot everywhere he went and silently kept it in. That had to be very hard to take as it's hard to fathom in this day and age.
