How we finish the season is important

ie. Not strong yet.

The 2015 recruiting class is solid right now, but still has some holes

I don't think I misrepresented the class.

Solid is not strong. Words mean things. Those two words mean two different things.

So which is it. Solid or strong?

Uh, the word I used, which was "solid."

My bad I misread. neg away

I still argue that the current class is marginal at best.

You left off one of our headliners which is Jaquan Johnson, he's a huge upgrade for our depth at safety. To the guy that said our recruiting class is marginal, can you give a logical explanation as to why? I agree that it is "solid" with some holes. But it's still December and a lot of our targets have yet to take visits. We knew going into the season with a freshman starting QB it was going to be rough. All of a sudden people want to act like our struggles were a surprise. The sky isn't falling.

Winning these last 2 games would be the absolute worst thing that could happen to this program.

If you're a fan with any semblance of intelligence (Canesable you can stop reading), you're rooting for us to get *** raped these last 2 games plus whatever toilet bowl we play in so that the heat on Al becomes unbearable.

The worst thing that could happen would be losing the last two games and Al Golden being retained.

Based on everything you know about our administration, you think he's getting fired this year?

Why is that the worst? I'd rather Gorlden start the season out next year already on the hot seat.

NO room for psussy corching then. Put up or GTFO.

If he loses the last two games, finishing with 3-5 record in the ACC, the big donors will more than likely pull out. Even if he survives that and coaches the team in a bowl game, if he loses, he's in trouble.

This is what I was told by an admin member. They don't expect the final games to shake out that way but still. The season has shown the BOT, admin, and big donors how incredibly talented we are up to this point and losses to Virginia and Pitt would be enough to show Golden isn't the right man for the job.

There is also some belief that he may look for other jobs because of the major players leaving at the end of the season with Duke, Perryman, etc..

Donors have had their expectations restored. Lose and he will be held accountable. Split Virginia and Pittsburgh and he'll still be on the hot seat going into next year.

I still completely expect D'Onofrio, Williams, and Franklin to be gone at the end of the year.

The reality is you don't know anything about the inching class which is why you choose the wording you did. It's not like your breaking this kids down with your own opinions. Not mike bakas, Fermin etc but your own.

Golden can end the season in I pressive form if he beats the **** out of these last two teams and then mauls a quality opponent in Miami's bowl game. He can put everybody on notice for 2015 but can he replace Miami's losses? Lost of questions here still with this coach.

Correct. I never claimed to be a recruiting expert.

I mostly go by YouTube clips and website rankings (and the opinion of people who know recruiting a lot better than I do).

What's the story behind this? I missed that thread.

Pete reported that Golden and D'Onofrio were having differences of opinion to the point where it was becoming problematic for the team. Also, D'Onofrio's abrasive personality were an issue with other connections to the team. I had heard pretty much the same thing from admin people and some players.

I totally agree with the fact that the improvements we have seen in the last 4 weeks should have, could have, happened last year, even without Kaaya. The sudden obvious turnaround in the product on the field is what we have been hoping for and expecting for years. It is as much puzzling as appreciated.
The roster is very encouraging for future success.

That being said, does the improved play of late continue to improve and does this coaching staff even know how the improvements happened. I am apprehensive.

The sudden progress is encouraging and disappointing at the same time.

I am not of the school of unrealistic and unreasonable bloggers here that totally expect an unbeaten, championship team every year. I do look forward to and expect a well coached competitive team every year. That takes the recruitment of high caliber, highly motivated athletes. It also requires an equally high caliber, knowledgable and experienced coaching staff.

We seem to have taken a quantum leap in the caliber of play and I am looking forward to continued improvement and am watching, as we all are, with a critical eye for the first setback before I hand out any compliments or anoint any coaches or players as stars.

GO CANES!!!!! always

That's the thing. I'm worried this improvement isn't sustainable.
And that is where the problem is going to be IMO. Golden and Dorito didn't turn into good coaches. They just adjusted what they were doing. They still can't adjust at the most crucial time which is on Saturdays. I still question their development of players and the fact that they still don't maximize their talent. Sure we are playing better, But to expect things to continually go up as many here do (not saying you do), is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Its not just Golden's **** defense that was holding us back, in my opinion its the lack of a S&C program, lack of player development, lack of in game adjustments. If the staff stays in tact I don't see how that changes.
