How was cristolbol [As a COACH in OREGON]

A lot of the punt issues strike me as not trusting them to field in a crowd. I’m not a big fan of Maalouf his S/Ts we’re usually terrible in the NFL. I don’t like this set up of analysts handling that unit. It hasn’t cost a game yet, but eventually it will.
Could probably say it cost us A&M a year ago. Maybe not entirely but it played a huge role between the FG team, the punting, and the muffed punt.

That’s where I first noticed the locking of legs didn’t happen and that we didn’t account for the long snapper and he kept making tackles and even caused the muff

Kam.. I’m in dangerous territory criticizing him on this board. Probably one of the most mediocre players I’ve watched to be an all-American. Got 3 picks in one game a year ago that took him from conference honorable mention/ 3rd team to all American. I was sold that he took the next step and we might lose him to the NFL early.. nah. There’s way too much bad film out there on #5. You never saw that from Jaquan and he washed out quick at the next level. He’s only slightly more athletic than JJ.

Let me correct my comment- I'll take Kam over the other safeties on the team. He was BRUTAL early last year. Saturday was another mental mistake that cost us but it is tough to blame him for the game when there are over one hundred plays. Mistakes happen and it is 100% on the coaches for allowing it to get to Kam on that last play.

True. Almost cost the game against them this year too.

Special Teams and Running out the clock- Mario please address these ASAP! HA

I'll accept the trash talk and Kam with the hopes that we improve talent enough that trash talk can be backed up 100% of the time.

They should’ve coached them at all costs to play to hold them to a FG. Worst case in that situation you tackle him and they run out of time to kick a FG or the spike it and attempt a last second one. Take your chances in OT.

Tackle the kid if he is getting past you. giving them 15 yards with 3-5 seconds left means a very long FG.

If he stays at the 15 yard line Leary flattens his route. There was coverage along that sideline as well. He’s not getting out of bounds. Hindsight is obviously 20/20, and as we’ll know they should’ve never been in this position. But he’ll have to learn from this to become as his career continues.

THANKS for your input. What bothers me that most folks on this board wanted MARIO badly. He's only been here not even 2 yrs. And now folks want him gone. Saying he's a bad HIRE.

I’m absolutely stunned that CIS doesn’t have a coaching tree. You guys missed your calling in life of being a head football coach.

Another thing thats getting left out, even tho i agree *** everything else because u supposed to knee no matter what…But they have no timeouts, why are we not in the endzone and protecting the sidelines lol they cant stop the clock its only 9 seconds left..Just a brutal loss man

I have no idea what the **** Guidry was doing on that final possession. After the first play GT had to clock it with no timeouts. He could have called a timeout, gotten everyone’s head where it needed to be and possibly subbed to a dime package. Instead they played like they were trying to keep GT from getting into field goal range instead of the obvious “don’t get beat deep”. With no timeouts, it would have been impossible for GT to get into field goal range, bring out the field goal team and kick a field goal with the time remaining on the clock. Give them anything underneath and over the middle, who cares? Even if by some miracle, they get into field goal range, clock it and kick the field goal, you still have overtime. How does our defense and supposed All American safety allow the one thing to happen that you CANNOT allow to happen?

Bruh i rewatched and just looked at everyone’s face and body language leading up to the end, they looked like they have never coached before its a bizarre situation..Guidry probably didn’t even think it was possible the defense would be back out there after forcing a 3 n out wt the end

Getting back to the original question, in 4 years he was 35-13, won 2 PAC 12 titles, played in 3 PAC 12 title games. Was a big underdog to Utah and USC in the two P12 championships they won. Was a huge road underdog at #2 Ohio State in 2021 and pulled off the decisive win with half the defense injured. Undefeated against rival Washington including huge upset his 1st year when Oregon was rebuilding and Washington was top 10. Beat Wisconsin in Rose Bowl. Recruited their best classes ever including a number of the current oline and front 7 on this Oregon team. As well as Franklin their best skill player. Had players selected in the top 7 of the NFL draft in consecutive years.

But yeah they did blow a few games with bad clock management- Stanford and possibly Auburn but that one wasn’t as cut and dry. They also didn’t show up against lesser teams at times- Stanford in 21 although that was a bizarrely officiated game where they really were jobbed and also Moorhead was sick so they didn’t have their OC. Imagine if Dawson was sick and Mirabol or Beard had to call the game.

There was definitely a shock factor involved. Everyone went from celebrating to grabbing their helmets and rushing onto the field. Even more the reason to take the timeout once GT stopped the clock. They could have had the time to prepare for what became the final GT play but instead they just kept their base package on the field and got caught flat footed.

Yea it’s hard to be upset at the defense. The game was over

They played lights out for the whole game too. It's just that with all the talk about not taking a knee and Tyler's interceptions, I think it gets lost that we still should have been able to keep Georgia tech out of the endzone when they got the ball at their own 25 with no timeouts and like 25 seconds on the clock. I mean it took Miami making like 10 HUGE mistakes to lose that game and if they only made 9 HUGE mistakes, they win. Absolutely crazy.

Situational awareness is the difference between good and great coaches…Uga dont beat osu if kirby didn’t sniff out that fake punt and get a timeout so the conversion wouldn’t count

And with shock factor, mario looks on edge all game lol its like he’s more nervous than the players at times

This dude has been bleeding all over the board since Saturday 8:10pm.

I have to admit that it’s impressive. Sometimes you have to give the devil his due.
That game killed me. I’ll never forget it. The game as ******* over. Move onto 5-0 and get ready for UNC. Now who the **** knows what will happen. History shows Miami folds like a tent and gets their balls ripped off.

Personally, I don’t think Miami recovers and loses to Unc, Clemson, FSU, and maybe Louisville.
