How to utilize Elijah Lofton

Use him how teams use Kelce et al - as a pass catcher / weapon.

Make them account for him, rather than thinking a 6'1" 230lbs he's going to function like a blocking TE.

I mean we really didn’t even use Arroyo much last year so this really shouldn’t be a shock to anyone. They aren’t going to feed him like he is Bowers at UGA.

Xavier Restrepo had 1 catch for 7 yards as a Freshman
No one was walking around with a raging hard-on for Restrepo as a Freshman, either.

Wasn't it Mario that called Lofton "Rueben Bain of 2024"?

The fact is, with the amount of ridiculous hype Lofton has gotten, he only has 10 catches in 14 games - and half of them were against FAMU, USF and Ball St.

I'm all for letting him develop. At the same time, I'm all for shutting the **** up with these ridiculous hype jobs for players that are 6'2 that are listed as tight ends, play like h-backs and could see time at RB. He's athletic and doesn't have a real position. He's not going to light up the stat sheet but so many of these homer clowns can't help themselves.

put him at qb
and we tush push with brown and fletcher behind him
i bet we could get 3-4 yrds a pop doing this
we do this all the day down the field hold the ball for 27 minues a half
and mario can ride this game plan all the way to a national title

My biggest knock on Dawson as an OC has been his puzzling underutilization of TE's in general. Lofton might not be a great blocker at current but he can still be used in run game on 3rd/4th & short + RZ packages. And can still be split wide depending on the matchup. Dawson needs to figure it out. Bauman & Ruskovich can block in the meantime.
