How to relate to Swasey firing

Came in '95 and got handed 31 scholarships lost and built the GOAT team. How old are u?
 
Richt has the right to build his own staff. I don't even know why people are acting like he got fired. to me everyone has lost their job and anyone who stays just got rehired. it's his deal and he knows how he wants it to work and who he knows he can do it.

My age doesn't make 9 wins a program saving season.
 
I'm sure a bunch of former players and current players are very upset. But the fact that Andreu has survived three failed coaching regimes is pretty remarkable. New sheriff is in town and he wants to go in a different direction. Nothing personal it's business. I do have a feeling we're going to see a significant upgrade in our S&C program with this hire.

People are replying as if I'm defending the firing of swasey...
All I'm saying is, the players are ****ed off for good reason. If you don't believe me check Denzel Perryman's twitter. People all over his TL saying "it's better for the team" and "he was garbage anyways" trashing this dude who was much more than a strength and conditioning coach to most of these guys...THATS what I'm trying to point out. Everyone talking about how beast Calais Campbell has been...meanwhile Mr.Campbell is tweeting how he wouldn't be who he was today if it wasn't for Swasey...dude meant ALOT to these athletes is all I'm saying.

The OP was merely offering a viewpoint...he shouldn't be attacked because of it--and he does have a point. For some reason, good, bad, sideways, the former players connected with Coach Swasey. I'm not qualified to say whether he was effective, but for so many former players to rally in support, should at least say something.

HC Richt made a decision, its what leaders do. This is another move that will define the early part of his tenure. If the Canes return to winning, all will be completely forgotten about the former staff. If they continue on the previous path or get worse, the second quessing of every decision will be swift and full of vitriol I'm sure.

Coach Swasey dedicated his professional life for 15 years to this program...thank you...good luck in all you do.

At this point, the only issue remains is: who is his replacement and are they truly a long term upgrade?

Anyone who has even a modicum of training will be an upgrade to this guy.

As for the former players: He was their friend. He was a father figure. He was the only guy they knew, and spent countless hours with him.

But he did a **** job here. He was either too dumb or too lazy to get certified!

Emotional attachments are understandable. A lot of players bond with their coaches, especially young players. Denzel and Calais understand football is a business. They were drafted and replaced another player who wasn't performing.
 
I know one big difference between The Grim Richter and Andrea "Non-certified" Swayze. Richt had enough success in his chosen profession to eventually be in a position where he was afforded the power to can a person that couldn't even handle his own business to a level enough that permitted him to even be in the freakin' weight room. The level of comedy surrounding this program cannot be extinguished fast enough by Richt. May he continue the purge without a moment of hesitation or care for those that have sucked at the teet of this program for entirely too long.

Doesn't make Swasey the equivalence of Richt. Swasey was able to relate to players on a personal level. Richt was able to do that while also being able to do his job effectively. Swasey wasn't able to do his job given that our teams have been weak and/or out of shape for the better part of the decade. Also, Swasey not being able to pass a basic certification exam in his own field (which is required) is pretty telling. You equate players being upset with Swasey's firing as a bad thing, there were some that were sadden that Golden got released as well.

There are a crap ton of better candidates then Swasey and I have full confidence that Richt will bring in the right one. Not sure what you were trying to accomplish in this thread. But it's safe to say you failed epically.

The only difference is that we have sucked the entire time Swasey has been here with the exception of his first two years which were Butch's players and Moffit's training.
