As far as I'm concerned, the PAST is the last 12 years of failure. The BOT wants to hold on to THAT!!!

Here is the difference in this case. Butch Davis wants the head coaching job at UM and Pete Carroll does not want the head coaching job at USC as he is doing fine in Seattle. USC was going after assistants of Pete Carroll and not Pete Carroll himself, and we are talking about going after Butch Davis the actual former head coach who was the actual guy who had success here at UM.

I believe that Butch will be a success here and will bring the "U" back to prominence very quickly. He can then hand the reigns off to a coach in waiting to keep the ball rolling. I think that is the best possible scenario for Miami at this time.
