How Much Time For Diaz?

Best coach this school has had in the last 20 years and you want him fired before the end of his first season. What a joke.

I'm not convinced he is the best in last 20 years, but won't say the worst (yet) either.

point taken though.

I was there for JJ's first season. That was as much bad luck as anything, but against much tougher competition. Still uncceptable.

4th and 17, losing to VT and GT, last drive stand against CMU...

that has been incompetence, not bad luck.

For me, the difference between keep Manolo and fire Manuela.
I get it. The 3 instances you've cited are well documented. Facts could also be argued for those poor performances - 1st year HC, entirely new O staff and system, very young team, etc., etc., etc. - also well documented.

The performance of the last 3 games should give us a glimmer of hope. The team could very easily have said to **** with this and tanked. The fact they didn't is a step in the right direction.

People love to compare him to Jimmy’s first year here which I can see but there is a huge glaring difference. Jimmy had head coaching experience already where Manny had what one day at Temple. He is still learning and with todays now now now attitude it is different. I am in agree with most here, 10 wins or bust with our schedule and win the ones your supposed to. The line has improved, our punt game is light years better, qb play has improved and Enos has changed. These are all good signs but have to wait and see.

Semper Canes!!!

or perhaps you are pushing your own idiotic perspective.

i suspect the latter.

no, not suspect.

i'm certain.

Unlike you, I actually wasn't pushing anything at all. There are pros and cons and I am waiting for a larger sample size before making judgement.

You on the other hand obviously have an agenda. Your mind is made up and will not change regardless of what happens going forward. You will just find new reasons to support your argument. So long my friend, welcome to the ignore group. Debating with someone who has a closed mind is a waste of energy and time.

What concerns me with the last three is Louisville (and it further ties to my observations of GT L).

45th-ish ranked O racked up 500yds against Miami D. Again, through big chunk catastrophic plays.

If it weren't for the O bailing the D out (for once), would have been much different game.

Kudos to Miami's O, however through this last 3 stretch, but still.....

not convinced...

you can't be serious with this drivel.

hint...next time you respond maybe not add how idiotic I am w/o me insulting you.

just a thought...

What about giving the man some time to put his stamp on the program. It is not his fault that he inherited a lack of good experienced offensive linemen, which was the main weakness of the team early in the year. If the offensive line continues to improve and Williams keeps progressing, this could be a very good football team next season.

And win, or at least give Clemson (likely) a good run into 4Q?

What if blown out in ACCCG?
That's still possible next year. If they do really well the rest of the year besides that game I think it's forgivable. In 2-4 years he needs to keep it close or win versus Clemson.

Depends on how the team looks like .if it continues to improve the n yes I'd give Diaz more time.Diaz will be here 3 yrs regardless what we want.next year and the first game in 21 vs bama will tell us if Diaz can get it done.next year team should play in the acccg against Clemson if it continues to improve.

There seems to be a fairly equitable split between "Manny needs more time" vs "Fire Manuela today" crowds.

Obviously I'm a "Fire Maneula" guy.

Putting aside those porsters who are always vague, then try and come back with 20/20 hindsight "I was right b!tches"...

How much time do you all feel Diaz needs for consistent ACCCD Titles and ACC Titles?

What does that schedule look like to you?
At the end of next year is a pretty good eval.

His first recruiting cycle where the recruits know what Miami looks like with this staff
A chance to see where/if his players get drafted
Another year with staff consistency

After next year we BETTER be in ACCCG and have NO boneheaded losses. (GT)

I like Manny and believe in him. Next year line better go up and to the right.

Depends. He gets next year at least. If he comes out with a losing record and loses the respect of the team he should be gone same time as Taggart.

I don’t like evaluating coaches before they have their own players unless they lose respect of the team and community(especially important at Miami)
Enough of the "have their own players." These are his players. He recruited the defense. So, half the recruits are his. He's been a part of the culture for the last 4 years. When he talks about changing it, it just ****es me off. You don't have to be the HC to change culture. Whatever the culture was, he had a hand in it.

Now, I think the team has turned the corner. I need to see how the team finishes the season and our 2020 class. The bar has to be the ACC Championship game. That's not a lot to ask for given the mediocrity of the Coastal and our aspirations to the CFP. We should own the Coastal every year. We haven't. Ever.

Like Clemson, everyone in our division has to be playing for 2nd. We have to own the Coastal. That's the new standard I want to see!!!!

Almost all first year coaches struggle and even most veteran coaches struggle their first year on a new team. But the difference here is fan bases that actually spend money on their teams and go to games would rather their coach succeed. Most our fans here don’t go to games and can’t wait until he loses a couple to fly some banners.

And complain that the program doesn’t spend money, yet don’t contribute a penny, when the money comes from the fans themselves.

Jon Richt QB coach, not a Diaz pick and replaced with a legitimate QB coach. Love or hate Enos Jarren is getting to be a primetime QB. Fleagles replaced with Hedley. Osborn brought in from the portal and producing. All previous, obvious problems Solved. Rome was not built in a day and sometimes failure brings improvement, we WERE a very broken team and the fixes occur one at a time. Super Butch Davis did not exactly set the team on fire his first year or so and then Coker (the worse coach we've had) won a NC but destroyed what was built. Butch won NOTHING!

I was full on fire Manny after GT but the last three games have swayed me back and now I'm in wait and see mode. Let's see if he can win the next two big and who we play in the bowl game. Show me something in that game. Then I want to see staff changes. For sure Blake but I'm also not a fan of Enos anymore. Then I want to see how recruiting goes. Next year he better go to the acccg or he can kick ******* rocks. Don't get blown out by clemson. He's had time to get the new head coach jitters out. Now he needs to keep showing improvement. Staff changes, recruiting, and wins can get him extended in my book.
