How much is a 5-Star recruit actually worth to a fan base / boosters?

Another spec thread on compensation of college athletes.

I say “fan base / boosters” because that is who is actually paying for recruits now. And I imagine if these Tuscaloosa Chevrolet examples come to fruition, it will still be fans / boosters paying for these athletes. So how much is a game changer actually worth?

Let’s take Evan Neal. How much is he actually worth to the fans? A hundred thousand a year? A million dollars a year? More?

Yes, but use anyone you like as an example. I used Evan Neal because he was 360 lb high school player who was a must have for Alabama. I imagine he is being compensated nicely
I would guess he’s in the 350k range thats a guess......how can we benefit from the rule when guys like Neal or OL never become a face of anything? Bama will still get the trenches.....it’s confusing af. My brother is saying we will benefit and usc but I still feel like it enables the sec even more now.

when it comes down to spending money we will never benefit.
Look at what Ole Miss was able to do when their boosters decided they wanted a respectable football program. That is a 3rd Tier school with no tradition.

what can they do when it’s legal?

the game is going to get up even more top heavy. Miami and usc simply don’t spend like that. We are living off the luster of yester year.

I guess 1 way to look at it is it could attract new boosters. Business men that just see an opportunity instead of being a fan. Someone who wants to capitalize on the market down here. Who knows tho. It could either save us or ruin the game. We been garbage for so long, thats a risk im willing to take.

My thing is why do people think this helps? My brother was talking about marketing......like kids like Odell want to go to LA and the NYg let him rot in Cleveland. Same why Lebrun left to the heat then LA marketing is huge.....Miami Cali should benefit somehow right?

They need to figure something out to take advantage of there likeness and name

I can see schools funneling money through local businesses even more than they already were. Hopefully, that means we can get into the game.

Grace and them got busted for "renting" cars right?? I'm sure we can stash the glove compartments to sweeten deals....

Hand the dealership an autographed photo and it's all good now.
Cash in the glove? Unnecessary. Just write a check.

There are tow types of "worth" is this nw market. One is the licensing retail marketing a kids name or image -- how many jerseys or shoes with his name on them will sell. That is what the ruling seems to be about. That would include autographs and the like. Then there is the bag replacement market -- the actual purchase of players using "sponsorship" ship deals -- free cars and such. I am not sure that is what NCAA has in mind. Of course the waters will get muddy quickly but how this plays out will matter. Miami, USC, and ND would have advantages if the more legit type of licensing is the only one allowed. Those three are the biggest name with widest reach. All three are international, with ND and THE U, at least 15 years ago, having the edge. All three have been absent for some time but still better known that Bama, OU, OSU .... We might be able to swim in the other water but not to the extend as the Bama's of the world. But for top flight talent, the bigger money might be with us. We are dead the way things are so this is better shot.

it helps in that we do almost next to nothing to compensate these kids, while other schools do. At least we’ll be able to get to the table now.

The highest ranked class Dabo had was ranked #7. Thats an average class rank of 12 since 2013. Miami might not recruit at a Bama level but it can at least average a class in the 10-14 range like Clemson. The difference is Clemson is light years better at evaluating and developing talent. When I talk about Miami needing good recruiters, I don't mean coaches who land 5 stars. I mean coaches who can identify talent, whatever the star level.
