How much better will we be physically next year?

Sounds good. Beat Virginia, self-impose. Onto next year!

Go Canes!

Sel-Impose our way out of the ACCCG?
Yes, we have very slim chance to beat fsu, we are not BCS bowl level either.
Better day is ahead. This team will have a bright future.

Please tell me you trying to troll???

Do you realize the extra practice time/recruiting benefits/media attention we would get from our FIRST EVER ACCCG appearance?

Yep, that seals it, ya'all ****** gotta be trolling.

At the expense of possibly being a legit top 5 team next year along with the continued negative recruiting about more bowl bans?

Take the punishment up front, put to bed the rumors about more sanctions and prepare for a coming out party next year.

If we were to go to a bowl this year, win/lose or draw, we are still an 8-4 team. However, if we make the strides we all think we can make with having the depth and a senior QB, we can advance our national reputation 5+ years into the future vs. one year of winning a defunk conference championship.

At the beginning of the season I was all for getting to 6 wins and sef-imposing. I never thought we would have the chance to compete for the ACC. Additionally, the ACC will not let us self-impose and we shouldn't self-impose for the reasons listed above. Too much recruiting/prestige capital not to mention real revenue capital we would be squandering with such a move. The NCAA has had us by the nuts for the last 18 months, we still have a program to run. Eff them.

So we could be 10-4 or even 9-5 ACC champs and play in a BCS bowl, but you all wanna forfeit our chance?

Come on, ya'all ****** trolling, I'm sure of it.

/// nevermind the recruiting benefits/extra practice OR the FACT that self imposing may not help us two *****, ya'all a trip.... LMAO

If we self-impose, will Duke benefit recruiting wise for winning the ACC Coastal or will we all laugh at them saying UNC/Miami were out and GT and VT sucked?

My only argument for self imposing is many recruits have openly said they are concerned with pending bowl losses. Other schools are using this against us. I really do not WANT for us to give up our first shot at the ACCCG, but I really don't want to be OSU. Not self impose, come back the following year and go 10-0 FOR NOTHING!

This opinion is based on the premise that formulate a decision based off the NOA, not gamble and hope to be correct. If the NCAA hasn't got back to us by that time, roll out to Charlotte!

Agree, if they make it to the ACCCG they deserve to play in it.

I don't see how it helps recruiting. It actually hurts the recruiting if we have to take one or two more bowl ban in the future. Plus it may hurt the current squad as well since the seniors or juniors are free to transfer.
I believe that we will have a much better team, at least top10 team in the future. We will have more and better opportunities with a more experienced and physical team, and I don't want us to be in an OSU scenario.

No extra practice time...the game is on Dec 1st...so a week.

The better situation is to win the ACCCG and get the extra several weeks of practice. 4 weeks

lulz - plenty of threads about self-imposing. Why turn this into one?

Because our fans think they are coming up with original thoughts and this is where to put them.

I read in this thread that ... At the expense of possibly being a legit top 5 team next year along with the continued negative recruiting about more bowl bans?

Take the punishment up front, put to bed the rumors about more sanctions and prepare for a coming out party next year.

Wow, "legit top 5 team next year" or taking another bow ban puts "to bed the rumors about more sanctions."

Sorry, where do people get this stuff?

I wouldn't be shocked if we finished in the top 15, lower end of the top 10 next year. 10-2 could happen. Worst case 7-5 if some catastrophic **** happens. I can agree with both sides of the argument. It would behoove us to take our medicine now, get it over with, have nothing to worry about in the future.

That said, we haven't been to the acccg before, the extra practices from a bowl would help this young team be more competitive next season. So, without us receiving the list or notice of what they found, we should play through it.

Heres to hoping we find out our punishment before this decision has to be made.

What is an Assumption?

huh?

You are ASSUMING that if we take a ban now, we're done. This is not true, it could be true so it is an assumption.

These [bans] are done in good faith, they are not definitive in fact (this is why we don't need another self impose thread see the others) and we haven't received the NOA yet. We have no clue what the NCAA is thinking (the fans) so to assume we take another one means "nothing to worry about in the future" is not correct. It could be right but who knows.

oh ok. yeah I definitely am. I can't see us getting more than 2 bowl bans, but thats just because I feel like some of the accusations are bull****.

This sucks because we don't know what the NCAA found. Should we wait for an NOA before we act? I think we should be proactive. If we gave ourselves 2 postseason bans, do you really think they would tack on more?

IMO it would just be schollies, a fine and a time frame after that.

The argument against a 2012 bowl ban because it is an assumption is bunk.

If you don't think Miami is getting at least 2 years from the NCAA... you are delusional.

Foregoing a bowl ban for extra practice and playing in a conference title game (whoop dee doo) is incredibly dumb, considering the potential in 2013, 2014 and possibly beyond for this team to make noise nationally.

We hopefully have quite a few legit impact freshmen coming in next year too, so that will help with depth/conditioning.

This, our depth isn't just going to be JAG's anymore, but legit players that can take somebodies spot if they aren't giving 110%.
