How many times have you played the alternative ending in your head?

How many times? Too many to count! I keep hearing about all the mistakes we made throughout the game and it's true that we made too many. However after all of that, we had the ball down by 6 at the Indiana 41 yard line with a 1st and 10 with 51 seconds to go and 2 timeouts. On the play in question Beck had Toney wide open at around the 25 yard line. He should have taken that. The entire plan at that moment clearly should have been to advance the ball bit by bit while judiciously using our timeouts saving one for if we needed to stop the clock at the end close to the end zone. What kills me the most was that after all of the mistakes we made and after all of the plays that Indiana made, we had the opportunity at the end on that last drive to get closer and closer to the endzone and put the stake right through their heart as time expired. I wanted that ending so badly!
Actually, we had no TOs...we spent them stopping the clock when IU had the ball

Would have been a Toney pass on a sweep somewhere in the endzone to win it. That was the script

Or we're on the other side of an incomplete pass into the endzone with obvious PI that doesnt get called

Don't do it. It will kill you. Need to put it behind us. They executed better than we did. That's why we lost.

1rst an 10, 51 seconds left from the 41 yard line.

13 yards to Daniels
8 yards to Marion
17 yards to Toney to the 3
Beck from the 3 for his second consecutive game winner

That was mine at least. Had Beck pulled that off, the status would be legendary. I’m willing to bet if he could have taken that last pass back he would’ve made it happen with a huge thanks to his O line
I haven’t allowed myself to think past that play. The play was actually there with a good throw despite not being the best decision to make.

I was so confident we were going to win, I am putting it in the shelf like the Louisville INT where I haven’t thought about next possible plays/scenarios.

Just hurts too much!

Im finding it hard to NOT think about it. With over 50 seconds left from the 40 it made too much sense. Keep getting positive chunks and you likely end up inside the 15 or so with a few chances to score with maybe 18-20 seconds left. I still dont get the HR ball there. And lets say he leads marion and they score there bc marion did have a few steps on him...now indiana has the ball with 40-45 seconds left and a chance to get in FG range for the win with their one kicker who apparently can hit from 58 or more

I don't think any of it was planned or talked about... just Beck's mental mistake under pressure... which he is prone to

One team made all the plays late and the other one didn’t . That thinking has made me stop replaying the games finish. Great season!

Man, I can’t wholly agree with this. When they had that critical false start inside the ten late that was the mistake/opening we needed. Holding them to three opened the door for us to win the game. It was right there.
