How many spots left to 85?

Not sure if this is accurate, but:
we have 83 schollys for 2020, 9 seniors.
83-9=74. 85-74=11 open scholly's.
take away the 5 FWO scholly's this year = 69 =16 open.
To reach 25, 9 scholly's would need to open up either by kids leaving early or being dropped.

Sorry, but the program is at a stage where regretfully we have to drop some schollies to make room for some higher caliber players. Steve Spurrier cut a bunch when he first came to USC south, saying they weren't sec caliber. Lets be honest, we have a number of guys we gave schollies to fill our rosters that aren't the caliber of being a Cane.

Not gonna name anyone, but I see 8-10 that could possibly go.

Coaches must know who’s leaving early after 2020 as they’re recruiting as such...

Also, there will be players who declare after Junior year (Rousseau, Brevin etc.)

How'd that work out for him? Took him 7 years after going to USCe to win 10 games. You willing to wait 7 years for Diaz to win 10? After Miami gets back to winning championships it can start dropping kids. Start doing it now and you will enrage a lot of HS coaches. When HS coaches then claim that the Miami staff lies to players and doesn't keep their word and then start directing recruits to UF and FSU, are you willing to come back on here and say it was worth it to add 8 spots?

If NCAA lifts annual 25 limit, and goes with the 85 total scholarships instead, how many can we take total this year?

A 30 man class with this momentum could be an absolute nightmare for the rest of college football...
NCAA will make sure not to do it JUST SO we can't capitalize...if we get 30 spots, boy oh boy, talk about cleaning up on the trail

We can take 25. We’ll play this season at 78 iirc, but a few walk-on spots are included in that number. 9 graduating seniors but a bunch of 4th year kids who don’t have to be invited back, a couple guys who could go early, a could guys will transfer out. (To be clear, I’m not counting Elias Lugo-***undo or Michael Scibelli or a few others in my numbers. They always use spots but that doesn’t have to restrict the future.) Began by looking at this site’s eligibility chart.

Going past 25 rarely works. Our big classes have consistently included too many wasted spots.

Ivins and Lake just had a new podcast and discussed the numbers briefly. Their take is that right now, although the IC cap is 25, (24 for the Canes since we already used one forward) the staff is not going to turn away the commitment of a guy they really want. They will worry about the numbers later. things happen - guys drop off, decommit, etc. They aren't saying take 30 + commitments but if there are hard conversations down the road it sounds like they may be willing to have them if it means upgrading some positions. It's hard to really know right now.

Pretty much what common sense tells you may happen. Who would have thought 6 months ago this is the conversation we'd be having????
