A question for those of you who have a better memory than me. How many times have the Canes destroyed the Noles' hopes for a national title? It's got to be around 5 or six. We have another chance to destroy their titles hopes on Saturday. If I were a Noles fan I would be very nervous.

Too many to count. I'd guess they have 3 or 4 more titles if not for the U

In '87, '88, and '92 we were their only loss.

In '90, and '91 we gave them their 1st of only 2 losses. In both seasons they lost again the following week (Auburn '90 and UF '91).

In '94 we gave them their only loss, but they tied UF.

Had they beaten us in '90 they might have gotten to play Colorado in the Orange Bowl. And if they beat us in '94 they probably would have played Nebraska in the Orange Bowl.

We were the only regular season loss in 2000

In 87,88,90-92,94,2000

FSU was 0-7 vs Miami
73-2-1 vs other opponents in those years going in to the Orange Bowl game vs OU on 1-2-01

I thought the 2000 season got canceled? Next thing youll probably tell me is "Oklahoma won it all that year" or something equally as ridiculous

A guy on Reddit went through all the FSU records and came up with nine possible national titles for the Noles that were ruined by the Canes. NINE!

1977: Miami was one of their two losses. Finished 14th in the AP.
1980: Miami was one of their two losses. Finished 5th in the AP.
1987: Miami was their only loss. Finished 2nd in the AP.
1988: Miami was their only loss. Finished 2nd in the AP.
1990: Miami was one of their two losses. Finished 4th in the AP.
1991: Miami was one of their two losses. Finished 4th in the AP.
1992: Miami was their only loss. Finished 2nd in the AP.
1994: Miami was their only loss. Finished 4th in the AP.
2000: Miami was one of their two losses. Finished 5th in the AP.
2003: Miami beat them twice in one season, LOL. Finished 11th in the AP.

2001-2004 the Rix years.

Rix finished with a 25–11 record as a starting quarterback and was benched several times during his senior year.[3] Rix lost to in-state rival the University of Miami all five times during his career. He is the first quarterback to lose to the same team five times.
