Pick two to play a championship:

That would have Miami playing Pitt again
SMU vs GT

Unless the seeding used a better method than the current standings.
Well I think regardless of that the tie breaks should be conf records, H2H, and then CFP rankings, which would have us at two but that’s a different question. At the very least we would have another game to improve our stock and then the Conference game participants would not cry about having to play while everyone else sits at home.

If the conference were smart, it would take the top 4 in the CFP rankings and use tiebreakers for the others. Thus: UVA vs Miami, GT vs one of Duke, SMU, Pitt. Tiebreaker IMO should be similar to the CFP or ask the CFP to provide the full rankings.

You would know far more about the dynamics of court cases, but it always seemed to me there were too many skeletons from the John Swofford days for the conference to ultimately prevail in court -- especially with FSU and Clemson so determined to GTFO.

Neither the ACC nor ESPN wanted those shady dealings exposed or the inevitable hard feelings to linger.

Wiser to come to a compromise on the dollars and let schools that want to leave do so
You’re probably correct. I was just looking at it from the contractual standpoint.

The schools are poorly represented because everyone wants to act like they love each other. There should always be a way to opt out of a contract.

There are only 2 revenue generating sports, and the ACC has done its best to be shut out of the biggest one. This is beyond pathetic.

I was completely against what FSU and Clemson were trying to do because I thought they did not have any legal footing, but if UM does not publicly address what is happening as it relates to the ACC leadership (not the CFP which is just using the power it has to ***** us), I will be incredibly disappointed.

Jim Phillips allowed this to happen. And his predecessor signed a terrible TV deal. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, and we are stuck in the middle.
Here's Dan Radakovich talking to Joe Rose today.....

Add him to your list of apathetic administrators.

,
LSU's buyout for the celebrated new coach makes it appear they haven't learned anything on the heels or the Oregeron and Kelly buyouts.

Maybe Louisiana's big-talking governor is confident Kiffin will have enough off-field misadventures that if need be he can let him go on cause

A complete politician. Play it safe with every answer, don’t ruffle any feathers Which is why he will always have a job, and why he is completely worthless to people like us.

Win that battle, lose the war.

Sucks, but UM administration has gotta do whatever it takes to have an SEC or B1G landing spot ASAP

And that is probably an accurate reading of Radakovich. He would likely tell us behind closed doors that its more important to find a new conference so he isn’t going to ruffle feathers over a 1 season slight.

This debacle of a football season pours even more fuel on the fire.

Only Barney Fife Phillips could come up with a formula whereby UVA loses a game to NC State but it doesn't count in the conference standings and five-loss Duke wins a tie-breaker over a team ranked just outside the Top 10. Yet another disaster for the ACC - which likely will be the magnified when the TV ratings come out for the championship game and the Ohio State-Indiana matchup crushes the ACC title game in a half-full Panthers stadium.

I think the walls begin to crumble in May as schools announce they're leaving the ACC after the 2026-27 school year
My conspiracy theory is ESPN is ****ting all over the ACC to hasten the demise of the conference to get the cream of the league into the SEC and (they hope) Big 12 so they can show more big time matchups and stop having to pay salaries to run the ACC Network and show games like BC vs Syracuse football.

And DanRad would be right

The No. 1 thing Sankey and Petitti don't want is any new members joining their conferences and creating more headaches. The commissioners already are having to manage a bunch of huge brands with massive egos as it is.

For the most part, those schools fortunate enough to get an invite to the SEC or B1G need to take what they're offered and keep their mouths shut, e.g. U-Dub and Oregon leaving for a half-share of media rights dollars with not an even the slightest public grumbling

Remember when people said the ACC was the clear cut #3 conference???

Big12 looking down at the ACC and patting them on their head.
The American conference is now the ACC’s peer.
whens the last big 12 national champion?.
I mean the acc is historically the best basketball conference and has won mnc in football in the last 6 years.

Don't think it's even a conspiracy at this point. More like good business sense since those higher-end brand-name schools are worth more in the SEC than ACC (compare ad rates between the two leagues as just one example)

IMO, the only ACC schools that don't end up in the SEC or Big XII are Cal (B1G), Stanford (B1G), perhaps BC (maybe XII) and SMU (maybe XII) and almost certainly Wake Forest (SOL).

the pac 12 is back ca and stanford and company can go back there.....

I dont know why yall think the sec an big 10 teams willingly want to split up their pie even more to teams?. lol

they already have what they need....

You mean the Mountain West with a Pac-12 sign hanging from the door? ;)

Just imo, but Stanford and Cal ain't going back and won't have to because the B1G will take 'em. The presidents love that they're two of the best universities in the world and the AD's like that they're not heavyweights in the revenue sports and that they'll be willing to play/host those Friday night football games most of the schools dislike. Plus it cuts down on travel for all B1G schools for basketball and non-revenue sports because the West Coast schools can play more games against each other.

They ain't gonna have to split it up, tho.

There's plenty more money to be had out there. College Football and Basketball are leaving a lot of dollars on the table.

The SEC, B1G and Little Brother XII could each expand to 24-ish teams by gutting the ACC and still not dilute their brands.

The SEC gets pro-rata for every new member — but that doesn't mean the new members will get a full share right off the bat. Sankey can pay the new schools a little more than what they were receiving in the ACC, then siphon off the rest — say $10M per year to each of the current SEC members.

And for the most part, the new ACC schools aren't going to seriously impact the pecking order of the top half of SEC Football. They'll be fighting for crumbs with the likes of perennial bottom feeders like Mississippi State and Florida.
