Not obvious to the board of trustees, the president, and the athletic director. I mean Butch Davis has done great things in football and would stay here for as long as we wanted him. I hope the new U2 reminds them of just what he did for this program. If the issue is money you paid for Golden, oh well, try to pay Butch less to start. Also, if you could guarantee a quality product on the field, tickets sales increase etc. I am just lost with how we have a 6-6 head coach with Butch Davis in Miami today, and not even a consideration.

In summary there are only two reasons why they don't want Butch:
1) Goldens contract. Which you can make up differences in other facets to balance budget.
2) Butch academics and what not: watch over him and make sure things are being done properly. Create a check and balance system.

This is not rocket science this is business.

Ugh

Everyone has different priorities. It is clear that the BOT has different priorities than the 30K fans who show up to games. As much as we would like it to be UM is not a football first institution and that is clear on most college football Saturday's. I love UM but our fan base is small for the obvious reasons and we have less pull than some of the SEC or BIG 10/12 schools.

Sad but True...

Forgetting the ego factor of the people that signed off on Al's extension. They don't want to look like a fool and be devalued with their BOT status by having an extension on their resume that didn't even go half of the tenure.
