How good will our defense be this coming up season?

While our defense was good some of the success is a bit misleading. We played a terrible schedule and we didn’t face an elite offense all year.
You can say that but at the same time you can also say they were put in horrible positions all year by our offense and special teams . With a offense that actually moves the ball or changes field position things might be balanced out .

LMAO you're from Columbus and you're trashing NYC????

Columbus is literally one of the worst cities I've ever been to in my life. Bunch of fat racists and zero culture.

Pretty obvious you're an Ohio State fan.
Columbus is pretty ****** if you don’t go to Ohio State . It’s pretty much Ohio State campus and then everything else

I have a close friend who works in the AD (Mother Goose!)

Here’s what he’s told me about the DL in particular:

^Martin will be gone after spring.
^Miller is not explosive and may never play here
^if they get a couple of transfers, Bethel moves back outside
Not sure about Martin but Miller not being explosive is questionable. The one thing that stood out on Miller's videos were him be explosive.

Wisconsin game has me worried.
Just watched those highlights again....our LBs gotta be more agressive finding the football....they looked terrible....we need to hit the portal hard for 2-3 stud DTs asap....saw way too many pancakes....Nnoruka and the kid from Rice who recently said he has interest in Penn st, mich and Texas would be a good start....still would like to add a strong 320+ guy to jam the middle....thoughts?

While the bus isn't anything compared to a big live city like NYC.....I can tell you don't know $hi+ about it ..it's a very nice city with good jobs to raise a family....plenty of nice working class ladies if that's what you're looking for.....surrounding suburbs have affordable areas for working families from the inner city...if you want to get your kids outta the hood it's a great place to live...it's also top 4 in heroin use in the country....it's not your average football town every drug you can think of is strong down there...... Sullivant ave near the bottoms is full of dope heads...it's hoods on each side of town with drugs and prostitution like any city in the country.....it's not too much different from Cleveland, Toledo and Cinci....they just cleaned up the short north area near campus....the feds arrested the short north posse a gang with several murders....its the second time in like 20 years they've cleaned it up...bloods and crips all over that city....don't be fooled by that OSU $#i+.... if you're not careful you could come up short...

Remember off season when the defense was going to fall apart because we lost both starting tackles, Chad Thomas and Trent Harris on the D line? Or that our secondary was going to struggle because without Malek Young, our only experienced corner was Mike Jackson?

2018 was our best defense in 15 years.

It's reasonable to expect a drop in certain areas but improvements in others.

It's college football, you lose players to graduation every year. Good teams reload.

I could see some early growing pains in the 2ndary & DL. I think we'll be stronger as the season goes on and we may have to blitz more to get pressure up the middle. The key to the whole thing is DL though, because the 2ndary has the talent so it will eventually shake out. DL will make or break the 2019 season on D... need Ford & Silvera to take the next step, AND stay healthy, need Blissett to put on really good weight and turn into a 3rd down problem, need DEs to stay healthy. I think we have a shot at Bogle, so if he comes then him and Harvey need to treat playing as true freshmen seriously.

Something that could help our defense out a lot is the fact that we seem to be set at Punter.

Winning the field position battle and not having our opponents constantly start close to midfield or in Canes territory can help the defensive stats go up immensely in many ways.

Hopefully good enough to keep a team like Wisconsin from scoring 35.

REGARIDNG WISCONSIN GAME:

My take was that our D held Wis back for a while (till about 1/2time) but our complete incompetence on O lead to the D giving up and saying “f*ck it we are not going to keep pushing if our O can’t even complete a first down.”

So I actually still have confidence in our D. What I saw was players giving up on the Ritch era.

Well then you might want to open your eyes sweetheart. I spent a month in Columbus. No diversity, no culture, big box stores everywhere, restaurants serving frozen food.

But hey, top 4 in heroin use in the country. Sounds like a really lovely place.

Dude, you're arguing it's a very nice city and simultaneously admitting it's top 4 in heroin use in the country.

Your argument is dead.
