How good will Chantz be this season?

Chantz hasn't had that breakout performance we were all expecting. But he was #85 overall recruit in the country in the 2020 class. #7 WDE.

Lest we forget, Harvey was #210 overall and #12 WDE the year before. What can Steele and Salave'a make of these two that Manny and Stroud/Simpson couldn't?

if they thought he was going to be a stud, they wouldn't have brought in the transfers like they did. He was only a take because they wanted Jalen Rivers. he has looked decent when given the chance but I dont think he will ever be a stud. Harvey has more potential and Kelly and moss are on a different level.

Chantz is a high effort/motor kid with good measureables. He's shown lack of flexibility/bend with limited pass rushing moves. Having Rod Wright & JT should help with the latter a lot, but the first part is less likely to change. What makes a kid like Nyjalik a potential star is that bend around the corner + explosive first step, all the greats have that, Chantz not so much. Chantz looks to be a solid rotational type guy who should hold up well against the run considering he's a big, strong kid but we have to accept the possibility he's more than likely a 2nd teamer and was slightly overrated as a recruit.

Don’t think he makes an impact. Think he gets passed up on depth chart by mid year. Too stiff and limited athletically to play edge in today’s game.

Has some elite traits, unfortunately not the ones that matter at edge. Definitely flashed last year but I think his role is as someone who rotates in and gets some splash plays, which definitely has its value

I don't get the need for some to write the kid off like he's a failure. Technically none of our defenders excelled in Mannies defense. The entire defensive roster needed upgrading and depth, not because of Chantz, but poor recruiting and development by previous staff. Chantz like every defensive player on the roster will need to show their development under better coaching and scheme.

I've said from day one, there's going to be a lot of players that surprise some people, even some that people have written off. Competent coaching will do that for you. Who knows, maybe he'll be one of those guys I'm talking about.

Thank Gooooood!!!!!!kid looked all that and then some senior year in HS at MLB! Was hoping he would play there here! Elite instincts and tackling ability and twitch. That’s why he was looking great at end with no size because of athleticism. Should have been there in the spring for reps. Was best d end in the spring.

Agree, that seems to be the biggest knock is he struggles to bend off the edge, good in a straight line though.
