How good was our defense in 2018? Yet...

Feast or famine mostly

Seems against teams that have a lot of time to prep it's mostly the latter

Always felt that We've got to work on being less predictable

That’s a valid complaint in 2017, but they absolutely improved on that in 2018

D was overrated...but the main thing is nobody stood out on D. Team shut down the teams they played against(well most of them) Willis was the only one that had a chance to get drafted in the first 3 rounds and that was a small chance.

Willis is second team all American DT.
There’s no reason he shouldn’t have been picked up by Cowboys over a UCF DT.
Now he’s all the way into day 3?

I hope he’s told his agent to beat it

I agree that it improved somewhat...but its still there

Both LSU and Wisconsin had more time and both consistantly moved the ball on us.

They punted very few times and lot fewer sacks and TFL

LSU game Miami still had multiple sacks and a lot of tfls. **** willis had 4tfls 1 sack himself vs LSU. Garvin had a sack and 3 tfls that game as well

And we still only made them punt 3 times...the best indication of stops

I said fewer sacks and tfl..as compared to other games.

LSU punted the same amount of times we did, and had less total yards . We also had 8 TFLs and 2 sacks , slightly under our season average but not a lot fewer . Again , our offense and special teams killed us that game. Period . It’s really like some of yal didn’t even watch that game at all

And their qb went 11-24 140 yards, they had a total of 296(156 rushing yards, 50 of that was on 1 play against the backups and they had a lot of rushing attempts)

This just goes to say why you shouldn’t leave if your not a guaranteed day one pick. JJ might as well had stayed and better his game and been a 1-3 rounder instead of a 4th-7th rounder.

NFL teams can care less what the kids defense accomplish in college they care about individuality when drafting. As a unit we were dominant individually GW was dominate the rest were slightly above average. It’s a reason they are not getting their names called. It ain’t canes hate either. Teams want to win they can care less who the kid played college for.

Yea they definitely didn’t do our defense dirty like people are making it seem . Held the other two backs in check , broisette had a good game but outside of that 50 yarder had 20 carries for 75 yards . And big runs like that happen , difference is we needed an offense that could respond back and instead we got an offense that either turned it over on our side of the field or shanked it . Multiple times 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾 Makes me sick that game coulda been so different with even an average offense

There's a risk of injury if you stay but there's also a bigger reward.

Dibs on the Ravens drafting him

So Miami has the #4 ranked defense (by yards) and they're, therefore, the best ever and Manny is the greatest coordinator ever. Then nobody from the defense gets drafted in the first 3 rounds so they actually sucked all along and Manny isn't actually a good coordinator or recruiter or developer? Seems completely logical.
