**** good..great balance, and able to get skinny through the hole. The run in the championship game was a classic.

I remember watching the Houston Texans draft Beanie Wells instead of of him in their expansion year and told my Dad "that's why they're to be trash."

Good stuff…But these guys need to do better
research

Opening stat is incorrect, there are more than 3 backs to accomplish 4.5 on 2000 + carries.

Besides those 3…Portis, Brown, Sanders.

These backs have done it as well

AP
Henry
OJ
Fred Taylor
McCoy
T. Barber
A.Green

McCoy, Portis, and A.Green are all at 4.5, so no idea if the list I used rounded up to get to 4.5.

Trumpycane thinks if he stayed in Denver he’d be top 5 all time in yards

Going to Washington was awful for his career
Redskins fan here. Hurts to say this, but you are 100% correct. Denver had a much better o-line and run scheme.

Although we needed help at RB, and Portis definitely improved our run game, I hated giving up Champ Bailey for him. Both players were just coming into their prime years, but you never want to give up a true lock down corner for a running back. Champ was the top 3 at his position at that time.

His development from the day he arrived and the day he left was incredible.

... and that still happened with as deep as Miami's roster was—as well as living in Butch's doghouse, with only Soldinger championing his cause. Davis didn't even take him first round in 2002; took William Green out of Boston College instead of Portis.

Good as ****.

Edge, Jackson, Portis, McGahee, Frank

We were flat out spoiled.

... don't leave Najeh Davenport off any list from that era. Knee injury in 1999 was a bear as he was never the same-same as he was late 1998 / early 1999 .... but dude was still a force over the next few years.

Why do you guys keep saying "if he stayed in Denver.."?

He was traded to Washington, he didn't decide to leave in Free agency.
Cos he didn't choose to go to Washington - and he went to a system that was completely unsuited to his skillset (which is why he picked up so many injuries).

Saying "if he stayed in Denver", implies he left of his own volition.

The correct phrasing would be, "If Denver decided to keep him.."

Portis had a lot to do with wanting a new deal after only 2 years in the league

Shanahan believed at the time that Portis' desire for a new contract might result in an extended holdout, and he said it could've taken "a lot of time to get things done."
