How good is UF's defense?

They have zero DL depth. It seems their secondary has a ton of speed though. LB position also seems to be middle of the road solid. Holding LSU to 10 first downs at home is genuinely impressive regardless of how average Nuss has looked this year.
When I saw whoever this is hawk down Durham who is a legit track burnerrrrrr with verified 10.39 100 meter times.. I was oooh yea, that boy FASSSSSSSST

USF was able to knock their DL back quite a few times. No worries there. Secondary is decent and Beck will need to be smart with the ball. Only way they stay in this game is turnovers.

I think they have a good defense but it’s nothing particularly special. DJ Lagway got the credit for their late season win streak but it was really the defense that did the heavy lifting. However the only legit offense they played during that run was Ole Miss. They looked really good against weak offensive teams like LSU, FSU and Tulane (who was missing a third of their roster for the bowl game) but they also got lit up by pretty much every good offense they played. Texas A&M and Georgia got them for 33 and 34 points. We dropped 41 on them and Texas lit them up for 49. Much like our defense last year, they feasted on the weakest opponents but got beat down by every good offense outside of Ole Miss.

We won’t be able to just bully their front like we did with USF. The good news is, they have no pass rush so if we need to loosen them up with some deep shots, Beck should have plenty of time to operate.

Personally, I believe they’ve thrown in the towel but will still be hyped for the rivalry game. That hype will fade quickly if we can get an early score or two. They’re playing for pride but there isn’t much to be proud about in Gainesville especially since their offense isn’t pulling their weight. I’d be absolutely shocked if they held us under 30.

I don’t see how the Canes don’t score 31-35 points as long as Miami doesn’t make stupid mistakes with turnovers and dumb penalties,The game will be close through the first half-mid-third quarter.

Miami leans on the Gaytor and the Gaytor eventually gives up, with the Canes putting them away mid-fourth quarter.

34-16 Canes.

Just think we put up 41 last year with worse WRs.
Say what?! Now we are ****ting on our own WRs from 2024 to prove a point?

I think we don't throw for much more than 200 yards. Why when we can run for 200-300 and physically beat them down.

We know UF's offense is a disaster mostly due to Lagway and their "preseason top 3" OL. But I can't decide if UF has a good defense.

I've seen Sapp flash then disappear. I've seen some life out of the LBs. And looking at point totals from the back half of last season through 3 games this season, they've held everyone but UTX (last season) to under 20 points a game. This season so far, USF had only 18 points and LSU scored only 13 points despite the UF offense turning the ball over 5 times, not counting LSU's pick-6 on Lagway since their defense couldn't do anything about that.

On the other, they had only 1 sack, 3 TFL and 0 turnovers vs USF and 0 sacks (not even a QB pressure), 3 TFLs and 1 Int (0 fumble recoveries) vs. LSU.. And USF generated quite a bit of offense with 391 Total Yards.

So are they a fraud that will be exposed come Saturday night? Or are they a legit defense that can force the Dawson Express to take the local route?
Their D is good and I’m happily eating crow as far as Lagway goes.

I’ll say it again. No one on our schedule will be close to us up front on both sides until deep in the playoffs. Protect the ball and we are good.

Dawson said something similar in his weekly presser. He said their defense is legit for a 1-2 team. But the OL will grind them dust saturday. 35-6 CANES

Just lost Banks too

As long as we prepare the same way we did for USF, without the 2 wins over ranked teams, we will be fine.

Banged up after LSU, this is now their biggest game to try and turn things around. The mantra has to be that every game is Ohio State. That is finally the only way we don’t lose games we are supposed to win.

I think the only way the game is close is if we turn it over, if we play a clean game for the most part, (maybe a mistake or 2), Canes 42-20

Napier said they certainly have not thrown in the towel. I’m wondering how many Croc fans bought tickets for the Canes game and if they’ll show up or if they’re now trying to sell them.

Exactly! South Florida ran on them regularly. Good defense but not anything we should worry about. Score 28 and we win easily.
